The big recruit this weekend will be Hayden Rettig. Kid was a lock to be USC's QB in this class before he blew his ACL; with very limited numbers they are prioritizing Max Browne and Cody Thomas (who we've also offered) over him for risk minimization reasons. If he's healthy this fall he'll put up huge numbers and shoot up rankings. I've been told that only Shane Morris (Michigan commit) has an arm that is as comparable among among the nationally recruited guys.

Good get; there was a strong chance of him committing after he decided to stay today too (he was initially only visiting Friday).

There are several good receivers in-state this year.

I watched Earnest Robinson last summer, big-time receiver prospect. Very physical off the line. Big get for Auburn.

...

Picture of Robinson's commitment features he and Trooper Taylor at last year's camp. He dominated older prospects. bit.ly/ccsggg

Looks like CB Kamryn Melton from Dothan may have committed as well.

Auburn lands CB Kamryn Melton

By Jamie Newberg

Auburn landed its second commitment of the day after Kamryn Melton (Dothan, Ala.) pulled the trigger and picked the Tigers. He’s coming off a junior day visit to Auburn and told ESPN he would likely wait, talk things over with his family and make his decision later this week. But that changed quickly.

“I just thought about it and wanted to do it,” Melton said. “I just really like the coaching staff. I also talked with some of the players that are going there with me and we want to make a new, great era at Auburn. So many good players are headed their way. Plus, there’s a great opportunity for me to play because they need cornerbacks.”

Notice the new recruiting pitch around the 4 year scholarship and the jab at the school across the state...

10611099-large.jpg

Tyshon Dye says he's not ready to commit, but the running back from Elberton, Ga., came away from Junior Day favorably impressed with the school and the fact the Tigers are offering four-year scholarships rather than renewable one-year deals that most schools provide.

"If I signed, they offered me a full-ride, a four-year scholarship. They won't take it from me. They'd be true to their commitment and what they promised me," Dye said Saturday.

He said the four-year scholarship "means a lot."

Dye said he probably would decide his college choice until after the season. Auburn coaches are working on him now.

"They made it sound like I was the guy that they wanted," Dye said.

"What he liked the most about me was my size, and I can get real mean with the ball. I'm a physical back. He said he liked the way I can make contact and lower my shoulders."

As far as committing, "I'll try to get it done before the season."

4-star DE Carl Lawson named Auburn his leader Saturday.

http://auburn.247sports.com/Article/Tigers-lead-for-4-star-DE-63083

Four-star defensive end Carl Lawson from Alpharetta, Ga., says he's not ready to commit, but his Junior Day trip "was a great visit. It always is."

He said he planned to take more visits, including ones to Southern California and UCLA.

In Earnest's video he said Bama was a leader. Anybody know what changed his mind and how solid he is? I mean how solid can a junior in hs be?

Roughly 90% of guys that publicly commit end up signing with that school. That excludes any that might commit early to a mid-level school and then get an offer from a school in a major conference and decide to move up. I read that somewhere on the internet so it must be true!

Really, kids flipping, while it can be big news when it happens, is in the 10% range from what I've seen.
