China-France naval drill aimed at Taiwan election

Taiwan President Chen Shui-bian accused China and France on Wednesday of trying to influence the outcome of a closely fought presidential election by staging their first joint naval exercises days before the vote.

Opposition challenger Lien Chan said Chen was making an issue out of the drills to try to win votes and urged China not to try to influence the outcome.

Beijing has dismissed suggestions of a link between the timing of the unprecedented joint exercises -- launched on Tuesday about 1250km from Taiwan's northernmost point -- and the presidential election on Saturday.

France was "evil hearted" for siding with the island's arch-foe in exchange for its own commercial interests, Chen told an election rally late on Tuesday.

OK, we have an agreement that if ever Taiwan is attacked, we (USA) will go to war with them. France and China both know this. China "claims the island as a breakaway province to be recovered by force if necessary..." So they are going to do a little exercise to show their might.

But WHAT THE HELL IS FRANCE DOING? Do they see this as their only way to rub shoulders with the "power players" of the world? Here's the funny thing. Let's say China attacks Taiwan with some sort of French "aid" <snicker-snicker>. We could take out France in one day and still get to Taiwan in time to assist against "Red-China."

This just goes to show what most of us here on this board already knew and that is how irrelevant France really is in this world. You know, when you have to whore yourself out to CHINA like the the frenchies are, it's really pathetic.

Here's a nice little song about the (FRENCH). Really kind of funny

For their entire existence up until this century France has been bowing to England as a world power, now they are bowing to the US and it is absolutely driving them crazy. Just like every political action from the Middle Ages until 1900 was to bring England down a notch, now their every action is to bring the US down, regardless of the moral, democratic, or individual liberty considerations. While the US should certainly should put our own political and economic interests first, we have historically championed democracy and personal and individual freedom; and unlike France, this is a major motivating factor in our political decisions.
