I know, no one cares about preseason polls, but I found this interesting. And I also realize that most everyone prfers the disrespect angle, but I personally think this is a little extreme.

I personally think the 2007 team is going to be a lot better, maybe still finish 11-2 or 9-4 who knows. I think the DL is going to see the biggest improvement over any other position. It will be much more difficult for teams to run on us. Pass rush will be as good as, maybe even better than years past. I think the LB corp is going to be as good as always. Maybe a little lacking in experience, but still will several have significant playing time. I think the secondary could be a question mark, although there are more returning in the secondary with experience, it's the lack of cohesion that concerns me, but I think that group will be much improved. I think the D is going to be een bigger and faster than in years past, with the key to that being in the front 7.

Offensively, the OL will have to step up to protect BC and to plow ahead for the our bread and butter running game, but I think we will be throwing the ball a little bit more. The skill positions are loaded with talent, in the RBs and TEs, especially. The WRs are talented just not real experienced, but showed vast improvement during the A-day game of just getting open.

I think AU will fair pretty well, but everyone else in the west is going to be just as good and/or improving. Not that I think Ole Miss or MSU or uat will necessarily contend for the West, but could spoil it.

Parity is going to be the key word this season. The top 8 teams in the SEC have a solid shot at beating the other 7. Everyone has gaping holes to fill, but LSU appears to have the best mix of depth, experience, and tough SEC games at home. A senior QB and a stingy defense will be assets for Auburn, but the offense has to improve drastically and the young kickers will have to grow up fast and catch some breaks for Auburn to have more than 9 regular season wins.

I think Kan State is going to be a tough, tough game. Auburn will have an advantage with the crowd, but KSU has a good DL which is going to give Auburn's young OL fits. If the WRs and kickers step up, Auburn wins. If they struggle, it will be mighty close. USF is going to be a stiff test as well. These early games will set the tone for the remainder of the season.

usf scares me; ksu doesn't except for the fact that it's the opener. we're a much, much, much more talented team. that may not be true when we play the bulls. their defense will keep it close.

"If we win games everything will take care of itself. I know a lot are going to point to 2004 and how that shaped up, but that's been over a long time now. 2004 was a rare year with 4 teams finishing unbeaten. That is not likely to happen again any time soon"

Nobody could know that little about college football history, distant and recent, and have posted over 5000 times on a football forum...unbelievable

We start where we start in rankings/polls. Earlier in the spring, Vegas oddsmakers had AU as 60-1 odds to win the BCS. I know we're going to be good this year but I am somewhat biased being an AU grad. Let's face it: others see the brutal schedule, the loss of all kicking specialists, having to replace 4 of 5 interior lineman, and all-time leading scorer (Vaughn) & pass catcher (Taylor) as reasons to doubt AU. Can't say that I blame them for thinking like that. But, the pre-season mags tend to focus on returning stars and don't account for the upcoming talent. AU has excellent coordinators in Borges & Muschamp plus they have a lot of depth. Admittedly, most of AU's depth is untested with little to no playing time. But you can't deny the talent is there -- guys like Ben Tate & Mario Fanin are going to be turning heads next fall.
