Good luck. Isn't he the kid from New Orleans that thought he lost his brothers in the hurricane only to discover later that they were ok?

AUBURN -- Auburn reserve defensive end Alonzo Horton has transferred to Jackson State, the school announced Wednesday.

Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville said in February that Horton had left the team, but left the door open for his return.

Horton is best-known by fans for his personal travails in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. A New Orleans native, Horton believed that his two younger brothers had perished in the city's flooding, only to find out a week later that they were alive. The two brothers, Jerry and Delorean, visited Auburn and attended a game last season.

Horton redshirted in 2005, and played in nine games off the bench last season.

He will be eligible to play immediately at Jackson State, a Division I-AA school in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.

"We had a little problem getting to the quarterbacks off the ends last season," Jackson State defensive coordinator Darrin Hayes said in a university release. "We wanted to make sure we shored up those positions this year by going out and getting some guys who can give us some serious pressure off the edge, as well as close up the off-tackle runs plays."

Best of luck to him...he's probably a really good pick up for a 1-AA school.

I hope he does well. The upside of this, is that if you have a guy after a couple of years that does not look like he can get playing time and decides to leave, then that scholarship is much better used for an upcoming recruit. This always helps in years that our singing numbers could be low such as this year.

There will be more to follow. Tubs oversigned this class for a reason and it wasn't to inflate our recruiting rankings. That was the reason Fineturd gave for us oversigning this class.
