Those are weak points that will require time. It is called 6 years of bad recruiting of OL by Gus and Harsin. Then, you have the first year of the next coach building relationships. Then you have development of linemen. There is no perfect coach, and some people want a new one NOW. They want to hurt the positives that we have going.

 

Nobody is calling for Hugh’s head. But you’re delusional if you think that our roster is so bad that we shouldn’t score 21+ on Cal. How long are you people going to use this roster talent excuse. Having the roster to win the SEC and having the roster to not have just 286 yards of offense on a bottom feeder ACC school are two entirely different things.

Sometimes u need a spark. Enuf blame to go to e everyone.  Don't know  but seems to me the team don't respond to PT. Just hard to be patient when you see teams like Tennesse turn it around in 1 year. I would just like to see competent offense.  Not good just competent.

Exactly. Nobody knows if Hank would be better or worse come game time. Even Hugh. The kid could come out and absolutely ball out. But sometimes you just need to make a change out of principle to show that you’re not content with a player performing the way PT did. We’ve had plenty of time to build a roster that’s capable of winning 7-8 and anyone who says otherwise is living in the 90’s.

Respectfully, I don’t think it’s even fair to say that. I don’t think Gus ever lost to a Pac 12 team. I know they just moved to the ACC. Auburn would have won that game yesterday. It might not have been pretty but it would have been a Dub. Probably would have kicked 8 field goals lol

Seemed to me that the run blocking was ok in the 2nd half but the pass blocking was porous.   Thorne was running out of time before he could find an open receiver.   Sure, some receivers get open but not before Thorne could locate them.   Some of it is an offense scheme issue and some is just poor blocking.   AU offense certainly did not make the right adjustments to counter Cal’s blitzes.

Our last two good years were 2017 and 2013. I remember when Gus came in 2013 and took us to the BCSCG his first season.  I thought we were in for a golden age of football much like Alabama had with Saban. Boy, was I ever wrong.

And here we are, with only one good season in the last 11 years, and no clear end in sight.

I wonder how we're gonna keep our talented receivers and good recruiting class playing like this. I'm not sure if we can.
