AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn has earned a preseason ranking of sixth in the nation from Golf Channel, the network announced on Tuesday. Golf Channel also released its preseason All-American teams, which featured two Tigers. Sophomore Anna Davis was tabbed first team while redshirt junior Casey Weidenfeld was named third team preseason All-American.

Auburn is one of 10 Southeastern Conference teams included in Golf Channel’s preseason top-25, joining No. 2 Texas, No. 5 South Carolina, No. 7 Arkansas, No. 11 Texas A&M, No. 12 Mississippi State, No. 17 LSU, No. 18 Florida, No. 23 Vanderbilt and No. 24 Ole Miss.

Auburn captured two tournament victories during the 2023-24 season at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic and the NCAA Auburn Regional and finished within the top-5 in nine tournaments.

The team recorded the best team scoring average in program history (287.35) and tied the second-lowest 18-hole score in program history at the Mason Rudolph Championship (274). The Tigers reached match play at the NCAA Championship for the fourth time since 2019 and finished the season as national quarterfinalists.

Returners for the 2024-25 season include Davis, Weidenfeld, Katie Cranston, Carys Worby and Rachel Gourley.

Davis now adds her first team preseason All-American nod to her expanding list of collegiate accomplishments since arriving on the Plains in January. She earned second team All-American and second team All-SEC honors during her freshman season after participating in all eight of the Tigers’ tournaments this spring. She captured a top-5 finish at the SEC Championship and won low medalist at the NCAA Auburn Regional by three shots at 5-under (211).

In her second year with the Tigers in 2023-24, Weidenfeld recorded a 72.35 scoring average over 37 rounds. She notched a couple of runner-up individual finishes at the Mason Rudolph Championship and the Tar Heel Invitational. The Pembroke Pines, Florida native had 16 rounds under par last season, which is tied for the most in program history, and trails only Megan Schofill in the program record book in career scoring average at 72.64 (minimum 60 rounds).

Auburn will begin the 2024-25 campaign at the Cougar Classic on Sept. 9-10 at Yeaman’s Hall Club in Charlston, South Carolina.

Auburn slotted at No. 6 in preseason poll, two Tigers named preseason All-Americans

4–5 minutes

Following a quarterfinal appearance in the NCAA championships last season, Auburn women’s golf was announced as the No. 6 team in the Golf Channel’s preseason poll. The network also named sophomore Anna Davis to the first team preseason All-American list while redshirt junior Casey Weidenfeld was named third team.

The Tigers were one of 10 SEC teams ranked in the preseason top-25 poll. Auburn is third among its conference foes with Texas in at No. 2 and South Carolina — who the Tigers beat in its home regional back in May — at No. 5. Auburn is followed by No. 7 Arkansas, No. 11 Texas A&M, No. 12 Mississippi State, No. 17 LSU, No. 18 Florida, No. 23 Vanderbilt and No. 24 Ole Miss.

Head coach Melissa Luellen’s squad captured two tournament victories during the 2023–24 season at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic and the NCAA Auburn Regional and finished within the top-5 in nine tournaments.

In a season that resulted in the Tigers recording the best team scoring average in program history (287.35), Auburn reached match play at the NCAA Championship for the fourth time since 2019 and finished the season as national quarterfinalists.

Returning players for the 2024–25 season include Davis, Weidenfeld, Katie Cranston, Carys Worby and Rachel Gourley.

Davis, the 2022 Augusta National Women’s Amateur, now adds her first team preseason All-American nod to her expanding list of collegiate accomplishments since arriving midway through last season after graduating high school in January. She earned second team All-American and second team All-SEC honors during her freshman season after participating in all eight of the Tigers’ tournaments this spring.

She captured a top-5 finish at the SEC Championship and won low medalist at the NCAA Auburn Regional by three shots at 5-under (211).

In her second year with the Tigers in 2023–24, Weidenfeld recorded a 72.35 scoring average over 37 rounds. The Pembroke Pines, Florida native had 16 rounds under par last season, which is tied for the most in program history, and trails only Megan Schofill in the program record book in career scoring average at 72.64 — which requires a minimum of 60 rounds.

Auburn will begin the 2024–25 campaign at the Cougar Classic on Sept. 9–10 at Yeaman’s Hall Club in Charlston, South Carolina. The season is highlighted with appearances at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic at the Grand Reserve Golf Club in Rio Mar, Puerto Rico, and the Charles Schwab Women’s Collegiate Invitational at the Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas.
