Mark My Word - 2024

Second year with the new coach.  Most of us agree that the talent on the field has increased and we're hoping for a good year.  @WarTim is watching for the nip and we're all getting excited about some football.  That means it's time for Mark My Word.

I'm not as active on this board as I'd like to be, but the Mark My Word tradition goes back probably 15-20 years.  I like to see what people think of the upcoming season.

Copied from last year's post, the rules are simple:  Make a bold prediction about the season that you have a gut feeling about, but most people might disagree - and/or think you are crazy for believing.  And start those predictions with "Mark My Word" because you are sure about it, no apologies.  This is a rule:  Don't debate or flame other posters' predictions on this thread, it is just for the predictions.  Another rule:  Don't make a wimpy prediction that everyone either knows or agrees with because, well, that would suck.  Exception to the rules: flaming will be allowed if you make a wimpy prediction. 

So predict anything about the season: AU football, rivals' football, AU Family (and the members), and even the Nip.  No politics please!

My predictions from last year were kinda "eh'.  But I did get this one partially correct:

So here are mine for this year

Mark My Word:  Auburn spoils Georgia's homecoming. 

Mark My Word:  Alabama fans will be calling for DeBoer to be fired after this season, but the administration will keep him on for one more year, as he replaces his offensive and defensive coordinators.

Mark My Word:  Jarquez Hunter will be talked about for the Heisman by the time we reach the Iron Bowl.

Mark my word:  AU will have 2 receivers over 800 yards this season

Mark my word: One of our ends/bucks will finish in the top 5 in sacks amongst the SEC

Mark My Words We will have two 1,000 yard receivers and one 1,000 yard rusher.

Mark My Words We will finish with a better record than UAT.

A high seeded team will down a top 4 ranked team in the college football playoff.  I know this would be a huge shock in the past but I think it may be possible with so many transfers a team could surprise a better ranked team
