Former Auburn softball standout and assistant Emily Carosone named associate head coach at Troy

After four seasons of being on the staff of her alma mater, former Auburn softball standout and assistant coach Emily Carosone has been named the associate head coach at Troy — the same role she held at Auburn during the 2024 season.

Troy announced the addition in a press release on Friday morning.

“Troy Softball is getting a great addition with the hire of Emily Carosone‚” Troy head softball coach Eric Newell said in the release. “I am very excited about how she will complement our coaching staff and assist in several key areas of player development. I spoke with (former Auburn head) Coach (Mickey) Dean, and he was very complimentary of Emily’s work ethic, loyalty and recruiting ability.”

Similar to her role at Auburn, Carosone’s main job will be working with the Trojans’ hitters — a fitting role considering her success as a hitter at Auburn.

To this day, Carosone still owns the Auburn program record in career batting average batting average (.406), hits (285), runs scored (267), on-base percentage (.534) and hit by pitch (85).

Playing for the Tigers from 2013-16, Carosone helped pilot Auburn to a pair of SEC titles and back-to-back trips to the Women’s College World Series.

Carosone’s move to Troy comes after not being retained by Auburn’s new head coaches, Chris and Kate Malveaux, who were hired in June.

Very happy for Carasone and wish her much success.  The Campbell head coaching position will give her the opportunity to be judged on her own capabilities/results and offer a pathway to a higher profile head coaching position in the future if she's successful.  War Eagle, Emily - show 'em what you can do!
