So, now we don't even have "modernized ports of entry", where most of the drug smuggling occurs by far.

During which presidency did the murder U.S. citizens?

Good grief.  That's absurd.

Ask the parent who just lost a kid from fentanyl.

Be sure to tell them the bipartisan legislation Trump halted contained provisions to modernize the regular ports of entry which is where that fentanyl is smuggled.

The centerpiece of the bill was an eight-year path to citizenship for undocumented who arrived in the US prior, to January 1, 2021

Noticeably absent from the bill were provisions that would promote the kind of border security and interior enforcement measures that are needed.  For example, previous Republican proposals would have boosted funding for the construction of the border wall, made it a crime to be present in the US without authorization, and required children to be indefinitely detained together with their parents while they faced deportation proceedings

democrats were unwilling to negotiate with Republicans on beefing up border security beyond modernizing ports of entry or narrowing the bill's legalization provisions. was Schumers bill, take it or leave it.

Basically your immigration bill was an open border.  There is no reason at all to grant a pathway to citizenship to those who failed to follow the law when entering the United States to start with.

Why did your great immigration
bill have a foreign aid package for Ukraine?

You pretend like this was a purely Democrat formed bill, but Republicans helped write it and the Conservative Boarder Patrol union and groups supported it's passage....you know the people who actually are guarding the border and know what it takes to secure it?

Republicans were likely going to pass it till Trump and the Freedom Caucus starting throwing a crybaby fit about it.

What's funny about the Ukraine portion of the bill is that months later Republicans ended up passing the Ukraine Aid independently.

So Ukraine got its aid and Republicans got no border deal.

Republicans just continue showing they have no ability to actually govern or get anything done.

Has anyone on here ever met a very skilled laborer that doesn’t have a green card or citizenship but works 60 hours a week to take care of his wife and children? The only law they ever broke was coming to this country to make a better life for their family? I have.

Because that’s the majority of immigrants. Believe it or not, they do not all risk their lives and their families’ lives to come up here to rape and murder.

100% agree. Not only have I met them, I use them.

But, there have been troubling reports regarding vetting. It needs to be further addressed.

Real life. The increase of elderly people in the U.S. far outstrips the birthrate of U.S. The size of the U.S. workforce is shrinking, and as a result the U.S. *mandated* support for retired Americans who have paid into Social Security and Medicare for their entire lives is at risk.

The only solution, which the European Union has already accepted and apparently the American neo-nazi right wingers have not, is that we need talented, educated, skilled immigrants. And what American farmers have discovered is, we need immigrant labor to harvest crops (or else shortages mean, YES, higher prices for all if us).

Illegal immigration has DECREASED under the Biden administration. But we still need qualified. educated immigrants, and we still need immigrant field workers.

Really?  I don't know where you are getting your numbers, but they are smoking something.
