Is closing the border completely the solution, or is it a goal independent of trafficking in which they have a useful wedge?

How does closing the border reduce trafficking? I’d argue that it would only make it worse.

If we simply turn unaccompanied minors back at the border at the largest legal point of entry, what awaits them on the Mexican side of the border?

I mean he doesn’t run the countries from which they’re fleeing. There’s a reason these people come here hoping for a safer, happier existence. It is alright to attack the source now a days?  Regardless, why do children show up at the border unaccompanied?  Do they not have parents in the land they come from?  It just doesn’t add up.
