Former Auburn pitcher Bailey Horn is in line to make his Major League debut after being called up by the Boston Red Sox on Friday.

The Red Sox start a three-game series against the San Diego Padres at 6:10 p.m. CDT Friday at Fenway Park in Boston.

Horn comes aboard from the Triple-A Worcester Red Sox, where he had a 1-2 record with a 1.69 earned-run average and one save in 12 relief appearances in 2024. In 16 innings, Horn struck out 19 while yielding nine hits and nine walks.

Boston obtained Horn for cash considerations from the Chicago White Sox after he got off to a rocky start to the 2024 season with the Triple-A Charlotte Knights. In nine games, he went 1-1 with an 11.32 ERA for Charlotte. In 10.1 innings, Horn struck out 15 while yielding 14 hits and 10 walks.

The Red Sox had an open spot in their bullpen after sending right-hander reliever Isaiah Campbell to Worcester.

Horn will join reliever Brennan Bernardino as the only left-handers on the Boston staff.

Horn pitched at Auburn in 2019 and 2020. He had a 7-3 record with a 4.75 ERA in 22 games, including nine starts. In 55 innings, Horn struck out 58 while yielding 51 hits and 25 walks.

The White Sox selected Horn from Auburn in the fifth round of the 2020 draft.
