Auburn softball continues to hit the portal, adds Arkansas transfer catcher Kylie Brockman

Auburn softball landed its third transfer commitment in six days as Kylie Brockman, a transfer catcher out of Arkansas, announced her plans to transfer to Auburn on Friday afternoon.

“So extremely excited and thankful,” Brockman wrote in a post to social media. “War Eagle!”

Just a freshman with the Razorbacks in 2024, Brockman saw limited action as she appeared in just nine games, logged 10 at-bats, drew two walks and a pair of runs.

However, coming out of Piper High School in Kansas City, Brockman ranked as the No. 19 prospect in Extra Inning’s 2023 Extra Elite 100 and was a standout travel ball player.

In the summer leading into her freshman year at Arkansas, Brockman starred with Elite Fastpitch’s 18U team and recorded 14 home runs, 28 extra-base hits and 53 RBIs — all while maintaining a .435 on-base percentage.

Also a two-time powerlifting state champion and the Kansas 5A runner-up in javelin, Brockman joins former Oklahoma pitcher SJ Geurin and former Ole Miss transfer Ma’Nia Womack as recent additions to the Tigers’ roster.

Makes no sense. We now have five catchers compared to our four outfielders and two middle infielders. Not to mention, neither of the two position transfers having any reputable experience or success at the college level. The Malveaux’s can be big on developing but do they realize they are still going to have to develop a whole team?

Trust is earned and not given. Nothing the Malveaux’s have done through the portal indicate any kind of a successful offseason yet. Hell, at least Dean recruited kids with experience.

For me to believe that we are capable of competing in a stacked SEC next year, they are going to have to start landing experienced proven bats and another pitcher. And with now 22 players on the roster, there is not a lot of availability left!

I’m also not the kind of person to present a problem without a solution. So, here is a list of portal targets still available:

Salen Hawkins (MIF, So.) - likely going to Bama

Lair Beautae (MIF, Sr.)

Brooke Ellestad (MIF, Sr.) - rumored to Arkansas

Reagan Bartholomew (MIF, Jr.)

Margaret Tobias (MIF, Sr.)

Lindsay Lumsden (INF, So.)

Ryan Brown (CIF, So.)

Olivia Johnson (CIF/C, Sr.)

Bailey Krolcyzk (C, Sr.)

Alana Johnson (OF, Jr.) - likely going to Bama

Megan Delgadillo (OF, Sr.)

Jessica Clements (OF, Sr.) - rumored to UCLA

Alycia Flores (OF, Sr.)

Katie Lott (OF, Jr.)

Lexie Roberts (OF, Jr.)

Taylor Strain (OF, Sr.)

Jenna Blanton (OF, Sr.)
