Trump can’t wait to help China

Recommended Posts

But eliminating Mr. Biden’s climate policies would end up helping China, economists say, by jeopardizing hundreds of billions of dollars in manufacturing investments that have already been made in the United States and sending that work back to other countries, including China.

“If America chooses as a matter of political decision to go backward on the green transition, it won’t stop the global process because that’s already underway,” said Stuart P.M. Mackintosh, an economist and author of the book “Climate Crisis Economics.” “From a manufacturing perspective, you’re just ensuring the Chinese edge in these technologies continues to get wider.”

Mr. Trump, who has called climate change a “hoax,” has targeted “every one” of Mr. Biden’s policies designed to transition the United States away from fossil fuels. That includes regulations to encourage electric vehicles and solar and wind energy while cracking down on pollution from coal-burning power plants and restricting oil drilling on public lands and in federal waters. The former president has also promised to withdraw the United States from global agreements to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The bottom line is that musk (love him or hate him) started a revolution and an entirely new industry that the US could have dominated for a century. The problem is why we’ve been bickering about glacier melts, the Chinese have kidnapped this industry, and the US is at risk. (Ps yep, Industry creates jobs which pays taxes so that we can pay for all the neat programs we argue about every day).

Again, even if you’re not a climate guy, it’s kinda dumb to crap on a massive new industry which would help drive the US economy for decades.

The devil is always in the details. You can't trust China Joe.

Manchin slammed the IRA’s Clean Vehicle Credit, which was ostensibly intended to provide tax relief to American companies that manufacture car batteries and electric vehicles. The idea was that this would feed the electric auto industry and enable American independence from foreign energy.

Instead, China is co-opting American companies and sucking billions in green scam tax credits. The IRA doesn’t stop China’s government-owned green energy industry from setting up pop-up shops in America to qualify for tax credits, while importing everything from China. So, they’re stealing tax credits that could go to American companies.
