Sincerely,  does it really make any difference?   Some are under rated,  some are accurate,  and some are over rated. 

The label "4 star" does not make a player any better than if he was labeled a "3 star".   Coaches know star ratings are not that accurate.   Stars do not effect talent level.   At most, high recruiting  rankings can help to recruit  other players, but only to a small degree.

@LPTiger Not sure how that applies. JLee said NIL is not the predominant facyor with Scroggins.

Scroggins  may just feel more love from Canes right now. Faulk is no. 4 Edge. Jared Smith is No. 2. Scroggins is No. 36 and underrated I'm sure. Our coaches are high on him too and we are late and behind on Smith, but I wouldn't count Freeze out on anybody in the state if he really and truly wants the kid. CHF may not be the best coach in the SEC but I think he's as good as it comes as a recruiter WDE!!

Bummer. Hearing JLee and others compare him to Dee Ford brought back some good memories and got me excited about him joining the class regardless of his ranking. It sure appears that he's leaning Canes, and I  imagine it would be enticing to be coached by someone like Jason Taylor.  But this also feels like it could be one of those guys that Freeze prioritizes and tries to get back into our class at the last minute. But I guess it also depends on who else is as high on our Edge board.

I didn't  say it very well. After Miami visit, we went from expecting a commitment to many thinking Miami visit blew him away. 

That said this staff doesn't give up and if we really want him I expect this staff to keep working hard.
