The star witness was David Pecker.

Very much this. The case goes nowhere based on Cohen alone. Pecker doomed him early on.

Honestly I didn't think much of this case at the start, and wasn't paying much attention. Reading Pecker's testimony was the first time I thought "he might be done."

A former president done in by financial fraud due to sex and coverup with a porn star, and testimony by … Pecker. Potentially the strangest sentence I’ll write in my lifetime

Strangest I've read was when I got a text from my daughter saying "I totally just got slapped by an alligator."

Not to derail the thread or anything.

Porn stars, Peckers, and alligators.

I think I’m gonna just quietly enjoy my frothy sissy-boy cappuccino and ponder what else today may hold.

The degree of delusion by both sides these days is staggering.   There is no middle anymore.  At least not that is letting their voices be heard.

I heard he’s totally innocent and done in by a combination of the deep state, Joe Biden and crazy left. Saw it on Twitter. I mean X.

But no riots reported due to the verdict.

They're saving their ammo for when he loses the election. ;)

How the heck can you riot based on the verdict of a jury that the defense signed off on?

Stalin would be proud of this show trial.  The prosecutors didn't have to tell Trump's team before the trial what the predicate crime was that magically turned a misdemeanor into a felony, and the jury didn't have to name it either in their verdict.  The facts of the case don't matter. All that matters is who's on the jury. Congratulations. I hope you all like the new rules.

You and @Son of A Tiger  are currently in the Anger stage, but I do genuinely want to help you overcome these confusing feelings y'all are having and help you move on to a more positive mindset.

Just know. My DMs are open if you need any help or support during this trying time.

Easy....they'll say they only had a finite number of juror vetoes, and since Manhattan is swarming with libs there was no way to get an even-handed jury.

Trump received 15% of the vote from that area, which means statistically at least two jurors would have been Trump supporters if they all voted. However, several jurors said they didn't follow politics and at most were only vaguely aware of the case. That seems wild to us, considering how closely we all tend to follow things, but there are plenty out there who want to stay out of it (understandably so). Point being, there are some who would have been apolitical.

How those apolitical jurors were immune to Trump's charm is beyond me.

Even so, I was surprised there (apparently) wasn't even one MAGA in the bunch.

I know at least one, and I thought two, had expressed a favorable opinion of him during the selection stage. Reporters who watched the jury noted one who at times would nod in agreement with defense arguments.

Trump is now giving a press conference where he has already stated that Democrats don't want people to have cars... just as a start.

........The trial was unfair......... yadda yadda yadda

Classic Trump.  I agree that the charges in his case should not have been brought.  I agree that some of the charges in his civil cases were pushing the limits as well.  Trump can't stop himself there, which is his problem in a nutshell.

He then brags that the DOJ declined to prosecute, which is true.  Then he turns right around and starts lying about unrelated matters all over the board.

The one thing that he still does not understand is that the system, the country, is bigger than Trump.  He wants to butt heads in a fight that he, nor any other man, is capable of winning with lies and deceit.

Ask LA in 1972.  I guess it depends on who is rioting, right?

Rodney King.  The riots were after the officers were acquitted of beating Rodney.  My bad about the year; it was 1992.

I don't think this will cause much issue for Trump honestly. He's still going to be nominated at the Republican convention, his supporters are still going to stick by him, a majority of Republicans will still vote for him based on a hatred of Joe Biden/Dems. The official Republican party line will just be that the trial was rigged against him and that Trump will successfully appeal it.

I don't see any states keeping Trump off the ballot because of this. Not in any State he has a chance at winning electoral votes in anyway.

This won't hurt Trump in the race at all and I'm sure he's raking in the donations as we speak. Still fun to watch though!

I heard that he’s no longer taking donations. Apparently sales of his sneakers and bibles are booming like never before.

In 2020 that would have been called “mostly peaceful protest”.

You can thank the two party system for that.

Reforming the electoral system into multi-party proportional system allows for moderate left/moderate right parties to form and be the majority parties just like in most other first world democracies.

The state did a great job in voir dire.
