The difference in HS recruiting and portal recruiting is what Hank says above and it is relationship building, love of Auburn, prior relationships and Auburn's atmosphere. High School recruits get to visit Auburn multiple times, attend games and witness our game day experience and interact with our coaches and staff. Auburn is a better sale the longer she has to show you who she is. Some portal guys make decisions without even a visit. Some make it based strictly on current roster and $$$$. Some portal guys go to places where they were recruited during high school. Based on the way we have recruited the last 4-6 years we don't have many existing relationships with elite players. You’re not building a solid foundation in the portal. Best case scenario is we use the portal less and less going forward. I think if we’re going shopping it needs to be for Nolan from TAMU.
