CBS News Online

I just pulled up cbs news online, and they have 8 different headlines with the word Trump in them.  EIGHT!!!    It amazes me how much people like to talk about the man.   And, I didn't see a single headline with the word Biden in it.

This has been going on for last 7 years.   When you began to really pay attention to the major networks, Hollywood and news outlets, you see a certain slant of reporting and a certain agenda being pushed.

If Trump had a nickel for each time CNN, ABC, CBS, MSNBC said or wrote his name, he could buy another wide-body jet.

They focus their news more on criminal activity.

I’m sure if the 24 hour news cycle was around when Nixon got shitcanned it would have been exactly the same.

I’m no defender of MSM but cmon man no s*** there are gonna be a ton of headlines regarding an unprecedented event in American history and politics. It wouldn’t matter if it was blue or red, the MSM would churn this out to get their dough.

everyone is guilty making mountains out of mole hills but this is really taking it to another level.

Some of it is partisan but most of it is greed. Nothing has proven to drive eyeballs and ratings like a trump headline - whether he’s being unfairly persecuted or a traitorous cult felon  - people can’t resist rubber necking him.

It would be intense regardless of who it was being indicted as a former president. It definitely ramps it up even further because of Trump. MSM gotta make their $$$.

Respectfully, they all do.

The former, twice impeached potus is about to sit through 4 criminal trials. One that involves stealing classified nuclear documents, 1 that involves inciting an insurrection on the US government, 1 that involves election interference, and 1 that involves hush money to a porn star, paid for with campaign finances. And he is all but certain to get enough prison time to serve a life sentence.

And some of you are still shocked that the news would rather cover that than cover a president who at his worse, is about on the same newsworthy level as 90% of his predecessors.

I don’t think people realize how absolutely insane and unprecedented all of this is. No other president in American history has been indicted once. And this fool has been indicted 4 times. Wake up.

All true. But there’s also a hurricane land fall, a major war in Europe involving super powers,  and other critical events. Everything you listed has been true for months or even years. There needs to be updates obviously but somewhere imo we crossed the line into fixation long ago.

I agree that it would be nice for the news to cover all of those other topics, but this isn’t the 1970’s. There are an almost infinite number of different resources that one could use to look up the war, or the weather. The media doesn’t have to cover all of these topics anymore, due to the lack of outlets. And in the end CBS, MSNBC, FNN, etc are all private companies and they are going to cover the topics that are the most financially advantageous.

People in the US aren’t interested in the weather, or Ukrain, because for most of them, it doesn’t really affect them, day to day. People are interested in all of this unprecedented criminality coming from a former POTUS. And they should be. If Trump had his way, our country and the checks and balances that keep everything going, would cease to exist.

And don't forget one of the stories that was not a Trump story concerned a women who snuck a handgun into a MLB baseball game by hiding it in between the fat rolls in her belly and accidentally shot herself causing a superficial wound.    Now who in h_ll wants to read about that and have that regrettable mental image seared into their brain for several days....

I would argue the $50b we’ve given to the war affects them but fine - let’s endlessly analyze the facial dynamics of trumps mug shot. Dear lord what people don’t seem to get is that the more the media covers him, no matter how critical, it drives up his poll numbers every time. He’s a cult anti-hero, there is no bad news. It’s starving his opponent candidates from no media coverage and feeding the deep state persecution narrative. End the obsession and you end trump.

I mean I agree that if everyone just ignored him he’d go away. But he is really really good at commanding the spotlight. In any other time, some of the crazy sh*t he does and says would have him blackballed to irrelevancy. But the internet and reality tv culture feeds off of that, drama and insanity that he brings. And that’s the only way people will tune into these media outlets.

It’s also important to remember that he is the overwhelming favorite to win the Republican nomination. If the media blackballed coverage of him they’d be seen as even more bias, because they aren’t giving the GOP leading candidate attention.

The GOP needs to get their sh*t together, reign in the crazy’s that running the party, and start appealing to people other than lunatics and wing nuts, so someone other than Trump has an opportunity to shine.

Even if the media ceased to cover him his base would still be obsessed.

There’s ample Trump friendly media that will promote him and just claim the MSM is trying to undercut him by not following him.

His base will follow him like many moved from Fox to Newsmax and Tucker. But the guy’s a former president, presidential candidate, multi indicted former president— how does a news organization justify not following him? I get not broadcasting his rallies— that’s not necessary. But reporting on them? Of course you do.

I mean, one has been arrested and booked and has a trial date just set, along with a whole posse of others involved in the same alleged crime going to court almost every day.  The entire clown show Trump has brought upon us is unprecedented.  The other is just doing presidential stuff.  Why would you expect there to be balance in coverage between the two right now?

How soon we forget. 9-10 months ago the media had lost interest, trumps candidates got pulverized in the midterms, and fox had begun to openly question him. Then the litigation and 7X24 coverage started.

Republicans would like to distance themselves, but the base can’t quit him. Even back then, his poll numbers with the party were strong. McCarthy has always done his bidding. He’s owned the House. His grip was iron tight 9-10 months ago.

No doubt I’d like to distance myself from him. Statistically  within the GOP only 38% identify as maga and “strongly support” trump.  Which is a nightmare but potentially manageable. His midterm “loser” brand was killing him.  As has been discussed before, this years litigation and msm coverage fixation has strengthened him beyond maga - which is why the indictments better result in something tangible.

How do we get the RNC to back off Trump?   Why support a guy who is batting 50% and has so much much negative sentiment...

Raise the debate thresholds to the point that only 3 or 4 qualify?
