KansasTiger 3,261
The man can coach. He will have Ole Miss playing nasty defense in no time. A few years ago I had a friend ask me, if you could have any coach right now to build a juggernaut of a program with, who would it be? I eliminated some top caliber coaches quickly because of age and the fact they would retire soon like Coach K, Mike Izzo, etc. I came up with three choices (he told me I couldn't pick BP): Bill Self, Jay Wright, and Chris Beard (didn't expect Jay to retire soon after). And I liked Beard the best because he was a decade younger than the other two. He had time to dominate AFTER building a program, while the other two are north of 60. This is Ole Miss' Bruce Pearl. (I refused to put Tony Bennett on my list out of spite) Edited March 13, 2023 by KansasTiger

Yeah, I'm kind of surprised that he got picked up so quickly. Thought he'd have to spend SOME time rehabbing his attitude and image. Again, sad where we are in college sports.
