I did meet him had a friend on the entertainment committee who booked the concerts. We hit it off because Bob loved loved loved him some golf. If he had more time I think I could have got to play golf with him. Damn I wish that could have worked out.

Three thoughts.

1 Tech dropped the regular series when it was clear Auburn and others had moved beyond them as a program 

2 I’m sure Auburn saw some benefit in playing in Atlanta for a long time

3 The schools have less in common than they once did

I personally despised the 2005 Brandon Cox 4 int game that ended the 15 game winning streak.  Without that loss the the winning streak easily could have reached 20.

There are pictures of Coach Jordan coaching at Grant Field wearing a crash helmet borrowed from an Alabama State Trooper because the Tech students were throwing whiskey bottles at the AU sideline. The path from one of the nearby parking lots to Grant Field led through a section of Tech dorms. If you were walking with your girl the Tech boys would expose themselves through open windows and yell the worst sort of obscenities. They are despicable.

Auburn currently leads the series 42-41-3. I'd like to whup 'em 20 or 30 more times.

I understand what you are saying.  I was referring more to how things are done in the more modern expanded conference world.  My generation is less in tune with the Tech series.  I was 7 years old when the series ended and just really getting interested in AU football.  They have only played twice since that 87 game.

It’s is sad how many historic rivalries that have lost in the past decades. Tech, UF, and Tenn. Now they’re just another team. Tech is another indirect causality of Kirby - they were already sliding  but uga’s recruiting rise pretty much stripped away the Atl talent that used to feed the program. Now they’re ACC bottom dwellers.

folks that never got to see a wreck tech parade have no idea what they missed. it was huge and the whole town turned out...............
