The messed up part about this is nobody at Auburn University has been held accountable for taking us from a team that played for a National Title 10 years ago, to a team that has been an SEC bottom dweller for 2 years. In fact, the two people who probably hold the most responsibility for it got millions of dollars and to keep their dignity. Personally I believe that Auburn should sue Bryan Harsin for breach of contract, due to his complete lack of planning and action on the recruiting trail. You’ll never convince me that after the investigation, that guy didn’t hang it up and purposely sabotage the football program.

I don't think Gus was too far off from our ceiling in MOST of his years here but it definitely felt like we were setting up for where we are now thanks to his complete neglect of the OL. Potato Head accelerated/excacerbated it, obviously. Unfortunately, Gus was doing just well enough at the time that when combined with how difficult our schedule has been that we were going to look like early 2000s Nebraska if we fired him before the consequences of said OL recruiting came home to roost.

I'd take another saboteur like Gus. Big hand in a national championship and an SEC championship, won another SEC championship and played for another national championship. Left us with an all-time total offense leader at QB. Yeah, give me another one of those!

I don’t think it’s humanly possible to do that much damage to a program unintentionally.   The ONLY explanation is that he was purposefully trying to destroy our program while doing just barely enough to legally keep his buyout.  
What a handful of people did to him was wrong.   What he did to all of us was also wrong!!!  My mama always told me, “2 wrongs don’t make a right.”    In this case, I’m just glad he’s gone and we now have a coach that gets AU, loves AU, and he’s working his butt off to fix what that ________ did!
