If Harsin is fired mid season

Do you also fire the OC and DC at the same time?

Usually the OC or the DC would take over, but since they are all besties, it may be a little awkward.

and if we did fire all 3 we would be down 3 coaches.

We have plenty of staff personnel like Trovon Reed and other analyst who can fill in. Not optimal but might actually help the team. All 4 teams (GT, Nebraska, Wisconsin, and ASU) with interim staffs won yesterday.

Yes but did they fire the HC, OC, and DC all at the same time? (That is a serious question. I do not know.)

Not sure. But I know our. HC, OC, and DC are huge liabilities right now. Midway through an already lost season and with so many upperclassmen and we could make it through the next few weeks.

How much worse could it be without them? Harsin already wanders the sidelines emotionless. And the OC and DC are just sprouts off the main spud that's been left in the ground too long. Let'em go back to Idaho!

For us as fans? Maybe it would make no difference. I know I wouldn't much care. But I just listened to Cole Cubelic talk about what the players want, cause he actually went through a mid season coaching change. I'm backing off the fire him now stuff because of what he said. The players should be all that matters at this point, and while they may be bad at some positions, they haven't quit. I'm not sure what to do, but I know what he says the players think, about the coaches and us as fans. I'm gonna be more patient than I thought possible before I heard him.

Addition by subtraction.

i doubt we fire all three. if we let hars go and the other coaches bolt it would be a black mark on their record. is it fair? maybe not. and i would love to see the oc call his game to see how it differs from hars. they usually talk to the coach to be in charge after letting the head coach go.

War Eagle | What-If Scenario: 09/25/2022
Generalized Topics and Commonly-Held Fan Opinion to Support a Mid-Season Coaching Change

Insufficient Understanding of Recruiting the SEC Athelete
Unimpressive Local, Regional Coaching Development & Promotion
Lack of Clear Team Identify, Program Direction
Underperform: Navigating the Transfer Portal
Underperform: Making the Most of the NIL
Relative Underperform: Player Health, Strength, Conditioning, and Nutrition
Acceptable Player Academic Preparation

Insufficent Gameday Gameplan
Counterproductive Play-Call Timing
Lack of In-Game or Halftime Adjustments
Suspect Clock Management
Uncomfortable Handling the Spotlight of Success
Ambiguous Direction for Overcoming Adversity
Generalized Will to Win

Getting Blown-Out, Embarassed at Home on ESPN
Possibly Losing to All Our Rivals in a Single Year
Probably going 4-8
Recruiting Relationships are At Risk
Recruiting Class & Rank Continue to Underperform

If Auburn decides to part ways with Head Football Coach Bryan Harsin before the end of the season, he may not be the only coach leaving the program so we'll need to identify those coaching positions to change as well as to select an interim Head Coach and Staff. We'll also need Bobby L. and Jimmy R. to handle the financing - but that's a topic for another thread.

Based on the above generalized topics, this what/if scenario indicates the following 6 coaching positions requiring mid-season change. Dismissed coaches would be paid according to their current contract or mutual agreement, of course.

OFFENSIVE DISMISSALS
HC Bryan Harsin
OC Eric Kiesau
OL Will Friend
TE Brad Bedell

DEFENSIVE DISMISSALS
DC Jeff Schmedding
DL Jimmy Brumbaugh

Coaching position vacancies would be filled from the existing pool of coaching resources already on staff at Auburn. The Coaching Talent Aquisation Strategy will be promotion from within, reorganization of roles, consolidation of duties, and opportunities for additional accountability and professional development. To offset risk of coaching attrition, this interim staff contract to be in place for a minimum pay period of 6 months, regardless, or unless longer term agreements are reached and do not conflict.

So, the research indicates: Auburn Football Coaching Staff is actually loaded with regional coaching talent and experience: Assistant Coaches, Special Analysts, Graduate Assistants, Interns, Strength & Conditioning, on and on - Previous O/D Coordinators, Previous Assistant Head Coaches, NFL Coaching Experience, Grass-Roots Player Recruiting Relationships in and around the South. Lot's of qualified coaches who are prepared, ready and set to make the most of the upcoming coaching opportunities.

What-If Auburn Football Releases HC Bryan Harsin, Mid-Season

---

Interim Head Coach: Zac Etheridge (Bryan Harsin Out)

Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks: Mike Hartline (Current Offensive Analyst, Eric Kiesau Out)
Offensive Line: Kendall Simmons (Current Offensive Analyst, Will Friend Out)
Running Backs: Carnell Williams (No Change)
Tight Ends: Joe Bernardi (Current Offensive Analyst, Brad Bedell Out)
Wide Receivers: Ike Hilliard (No Change)
Wide Receivers, Offensive Analyst: David Whitlow (Current Graduate Assistant, Offense)

Defensive Coordinator/Linebackers: JC Sherritt (Current Defensive Analyst, Jeff Schmedding Out)
Defensive Line/Edge Linebackers/Assistant Head Coach: Roc Bellantoni (Jimmy Brumbaugh Out)
Linebackers: Christian Robinson (No Change)
Secondary: Jeremiah Wilson (Current Defensive Analyst, Zac Etheridge to Interim Head Coach)
Secondary, Defensive Analyst: Ty Holder (No Change)

Special Teams Coordinator: Eric Sachse (Current Special Teams Analyst, Roc Bellantoni to Defensive Line)

Plus, there's a ton of other Directors, Support Staff and Team Leads who are probably working right now to make Auburn and Auburn Football the special place we love and know it to be; and while I can't mention everyone by name: thank you. We appreciate what you do.

Enjoy.
Opine.
Refute.
Be well.
Stay safe.

Just let Will Friend go right now

The best OL coach in the country couldn’t make this line much better. They’re physically not capable of playing at an SEC level.
I’m not saying he’s a good coach, but he shouldn’t shoulder all the blame.

Yes they could. Friend has failed in coaching and recruiting.

To be fair defense hasn’t been bad just ridiculously low depth wise

Agreed, no reason to do anything with Schmedding during the season.  I don't see any assistants being fired midseason, even if Harsin is.  It just doesn't happen that way and the hand-wringing about it is baseless.

Defense wears out in second halves because offense is routinely 3 and out. It is a miracle they hold out as long as they do.

That and the lack of depth that the poster you quoted mentioned.
