Biden Calls Out ‘Socialist Republicans’ Now Begging for Money From Program They Voted Down

In this article:

Joe Biden

President of the United States since 2021

CNN

President Joe Biden took the opportunity on Friday to tweak conservative Republicans who recently asked for grants from the infrastructure law that was passed last year, noting that these same lawmakers had previously blasted the legislation as socialism.

“I didn’t know there were that many socialist Republicans!” Biden exclaimed during a speech in Maryland.

Hours before the president took the podium at a Hagerstown auto plant to tout his economic policies, CNN reported that dozens of Republicans who initially opposed the billion-dollar infrastructure plan have since written letters to the administration requesting money from the bill.

For instance, MAGA Congressman Paul Gosar (R-AZ) labeled the bill “phony” and said it “only serves to advance the America Last’s socialist agenda” while voting against it, only to later write three separate letters this year advocating for funding to projects in his district.

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), a fierce Biden critic who derided the bill’s “wasteful spending,” has since written 10 letters appealing for money to be allocated for Kentucky projects that would “promote continued economic development, ease congestion, improve air quality, and support job growth throughout the region.”

After taking aim at Republicans who want to dismantle Social Security and Medicare during his Friday afternoon speech, the president then pulled out a copy of the CNN story and began reading from it.

“A report that came out at CNN says Republicans call Biden infrastructure program socialism, and then they ask for the money,” he stated. “And it goes through all of the Republicans, those who call it socialism and how they’re asking.” Biden went on to name several GOP lawmakers flagged in the report before turning back to the audience.

“I can go down the list. Look it up. Socialism. I didn’t know there were that many socialist Republicans,” the president snarked. “Think about it. I’m serious. Let’s get serious about taking care of ordinary people!”

Biden added, “Folks, look, you can’t make this stuff up. You gotta say, and I gotta say, I was surprised to see so many socialists in the Republican caucus.”

The president then pivoted to the upcoming midterm elections, claiming that “if Republicans take control of the Congress, these historic victories will be taken away” and “every kitchen table cost will go up not down.”

omg i love this. of course the repukes will try to change the narrative. we need to start standing up more to some of these idiots.

Just my opinion and although Biden may be truthful and has the right to reveal what he's stating, it comes across as something Trump would say if he was in office and he had the politics on his side. This divisive type of politics is turning me away from both parties. I'm looking for a party that is real, mature, grass roots, and forward thinking with progressive ideas to address issues in our nation. Sound bites, quips and jabs just don't get it for me.

You are naive.  The Trump Republican Party represents an existential threat to our democracy.

Democrats have a duty to be "divisive" if that what it takes for our democracy to prevail over that threat.

You can't compromise with these people (Republicans) because they don't give a s*** about what's best for the country in terms of policy.  They just care about their own political futures and personal fortunes ...... until they get slapped in the face with reality.

That's what the OP is about.

Can’t believe Brandon brings up kitchen tables. He has decimated the family’s ability to provide food for reasonable prices. Has he been to the store lately?

Putin is using our obsession with gender dysphoria as a club to hit the west over the head to their people.  Realize I AM NOT SAYING PUTIN IS RIGHT IN ANNEXING PARTS OF UKRAINE, but that we are giving him a talking point to their people that our culture is going to the dogs.

The discussion lasts about 7 minutes before it turns to sabotage.

No one but Branson is responsible for this.  The world is not wholesale buying this lunacy.

We really are back to normal with Biden in office.  Who can back this guy?  Maybe a roll call here, anyone?

I’ve got two words “Let’s Go Brandon”.

And he single handedly  "decimated" pretty much the entire world's ability to provide food at reasonable prices while at it!

It's no wonder you hate him so much.

Against whom?   Trump?

You think Trump is the answer to the world's problems?

Yes.  You implied Biden is unacceptable without any context.

But voting is a choice. Do you think Trump would be preferable to Biden?

That's the (probable) choice we are about to make.

Yes, Putin and much of Russia are homophobic bigots. Thats been true for a long time, and the fact that you think the west is at fault for being tolerant and giving Putin more propaganda material is laughable.

Even more so since it's actually Fox News and US Right wing media that the Russians get much of their anti-american propaganda and talking points from.

Here we go; why do you people always take a quote and make it sound like what you want it to say with some kind of spin?  No were did I say the west is at fault, but I did say Putin is using it as propaganda.  I also said Biden is responsible for Russia using it as propaganda.

The world is not ready for being as tolerant as the US, but Biden has made it mandatory, by policy, to make the US tolerant.  The US is the leader of the free world, of course Russia is paying attention.  Should he try to regulate morality?  It has never worked in the past.

Are you of the opinion that FOX and US Right wing media should be censored?

Ok....replace the word 'West' with 'Biden' in my sentences and it is 100% still the same valid statement.

ok...and?

Why do you believe that the beliefs and morals of a backwards, uninformed, traditionalist Russian populous/government should direct the morals and policies of the US. Who cares if Putin makes fun of our gay/trans policies and acceptance? In you're never-ending quest to blame Biden for absolutely everything imaginable, you're not making much sense with any of this.

Should the Church/Christians try to regulate morality?

No, but maybe place the blame for Russia propaganda sources where it actually belongs.

How things have changed.  I remember your constant complaints that Biden wasn't putting fighters in the air and, boots on the ground.  Now you are worried about "Armageddon"?

"I’ve got two words “Let’s Go Brandon”."  This is a brilliant statement.  Thank you.

It is not others who are "making it sound" like anything other than it sounds like.  It's you.

As Coffee pointed out:

"we are giving him a talking point to their people that our culture is going to the dogs."

That statement implies everything Coffee alluded to in his response.

Furthermore, you're statement that "Biden is making in mandatory, by policy, to make the U.S. tolerant" implies that you don't agree with the U.S. being tolerant, (at least after you get past the absurdity of a POTUS enforcing tolerance on the populace with policy, as if that's really possible).

But I am sure you don't get that either.

Why do you constantly imply something and then deny it when others point it out?  That's weaseling.

P.S.:  If the world is really "not ready" to be tolerant, then - as "leader of the free world" - do we not have a moral duty to show leadership in tolerance?

No, if you replace West with *Biden’s policies* it would be correct. Its the policies that created the propaganda.

I don’t believe the above.  Where do you get that?  I said they criticized our beliefs to strengthen their own.

I think I have.  At the feet of Biden’s policies.  Without the policies, Putin has nothing.

Clearly, World War III is about gender dysphoria.  What amazing insight.

I just hope the people of America will align with Putin and christianity in order to defeat Joe Biden and his secret transsexual army.

That's funny on at least two different levels:  First, you introduced it with "two words", secondly, Ted Cruz:laugh:

Biden really doesn’t believe you can change genders even if his policies state they can.  There is no fear he has a secret trans army

US citizens or immigrants who are born male and changed their gender to female are still required to register. Individuals who are born female and changed their gender to male are not required to register.
