It’s Wednesday, my dudes.

This time around, the Tigers have named their honorary captain for their showdown with San Jose State this weekend, an Auburn basketball rookie gets his first video game ranking, the Auburn volleyball team continues a strong winning streak and Auburn’s men’s golf coach signs an extension to stick around.

Auburn does have actual team captains, but the Tigers also pick an honorary captain every week.

Ahead of the Tigers’ showdown against San Jose State, Auburn tapped defensive lineman Colby Wooden as the honorary captain for the matchup. Last week, Wooden had three total tackles in Auburn’s winning effort against the Mercer Bears to kick off the season.

Rookie video game ratings have always been somewhat of a rite of passage, and former Auburn guard Jabari Smith has gotten his first grade from NBA 2k.

Smith will be a 78 overall in NBA 2k22, matching the No. 1 overall pick for the Orlando Magic, Paolo Banchero, and sitting one number higher than the man picked before him in Oklahoma City’s Chet Holmgren. Smith will get the first chance to prove he’ll play to his ranking — or better — when he and the Rockets kick off the season on Oct. 19 against the Atlanta Hawks.

The wins keep coming for Auburn volleyball.

The team recently wrapped up the Georgia State Tournament at the end of August, where it won all three of its matches in Atlanta. After that, the Tigers defeated Alabama State and Alabama A&M to extend their winning streak. Auburn will see its first SEC action at the end of the month when it takes on Alabama on Sept. 24.

Auburn’s men’s golf coach is here to stay.

Head coach Nick Clinard, who has thus far amounted a record of 132-41-1 as a golf head coach across his tenures with Auburn and UCF, signed an extension with the team that will see him continue to coach the Tigers through the 2027 season. The men’s team made a run into the NCAA Championships this year before being eliminated.

Auburn men’s golf head coach Nick Clinard has signed a five-year contract extension that will keep him at the helm of the Tiger golf program through the 2027 season. https://t.co/MpsXjQ8Vqs
