Auburn hosts San Jose State, a Mountain West foe for Harsin and company during their time at Boise State, next weekend inside Jordan-Hare Stadium (6:30 p.m. CST, ESPNU). And the Tigers are big favorites for the second straight week to open the season. Auburn opened as a 22-point favorite over the Spartans, per VegasInsider.com. Mercer (+31.5) landed a backdoor cover over the weekend with a touchdown with 25 seconds left in the game, finishing with a final score of 42-16. San Jose State, in its sixth season under Brent Brennan, needed a touchdown with 1:11 remaining to beat FCS Portland State 21-17 on Thursday in its season opener. The last time Harsin and Brennan met, San Jose State beat Boise State 34-20 in the 2020 Mountain West championship game. Harsin went 3-1 against the Spartans while coaching the Broncos. 3COMMENTS Auburn's only matchups with San Jose State in program history were two straight games in 2014-15, both of which Auburn won in Jordan-Hare Stadium.
