Texas Tech Transfers Put Red Raiders Back In Sweet 16

Bruce Pearl's staff is staying within the conference for one of its first transfer correspondences of the offseason.

Auburn was one of a handful of schools to reach out to South Carolina grad transfer Erik Stevenson, according to Jake Weingarten of Stockrisers.com. Stevenson, who will be playing at his fourth college program next season, entered the transfer portal Wednesday.

Per Weingarten, other schools to contact Stevenson have been Arkansas, West Virginia, Creighton, Clemson, Ole Miss and Pittsburgh, among others.

The No. 4 player in Washington in the 2018 class, Stevenson began his career at Wichita State, where he logged 31 starts over two seasons. He then jumped to play in the Pac-12 at Washington. After starting 23 of 26 games with the Huskies, the 6-foot-4 guard transferred again, this time to the SEC.

With the Gamecocks last season, Stevenson started all 31 games at shooting guard, averaging a career-high 11.6 points per game. He shot 33.3% from beyond the arc and is a 30.5% career 3-point shooter.

In two games against Auburn last season, Stevenson shot 8-of-16 from deep and scored 38 points combined.

Stevenson was the top free-throw shooter in college basketball last season, missing just one foul shot all season (98.4%).

Auburn's own experienced wing player, Devan Cambridge, transferred out Thursday, after appearing in 91 games over three seasons.

Auburn is likely to be in the market for consistent 3-point shooters on the wing, after the Tigers finished their season at No. 270 nationally in shooting percentage from deep, despite boasting the SEC's top 3-point shooter in freshman Jabari Smith.

He is a decent 3 point shooter but I don't think he is the answer that Auburn needs at SG.

1 missed free throw all year??? I’ve never even heard anything close to that. Whoa.

61 of 62! Didn’t get to the line that often, but still. A serious end of game weapon.

If only there was a designated free throw shooter rule in basketball.

Perhaps it’s best to convert this to a general 2022 transfer portal thread.

Already had plans to create a transfer portal thread before the attempts at turning this into one.

It seems like they’re shooting as if they’ll have multiple transfer portal spots, but I hope that if we go guard, it’s someone who could feasibly play the 3. We got like 30 people who can be a 1 or 2, and we only got 1 small forward option if Flanigan left for whatever reason

we NEED another big, even if Traore commits, also
