Junior Rosegreen talks about the Auburn Tigers

March 1 at midnight marked the end of college football's February recruiting "dead period."

Beginning Tuesday, recruits can once again visit campuses and meet with coaching staffs as we've now entered what's called a "quiet period." Worth noting, college still can't go off-campus to recruit for another six weeks. This current period is all about hosting prospects.

To say the least, the beginning of the quiet period is significant for Auburn -- and everyone else. After a month without campus visits, prospects -- particularly those in the 2023 rising senior class, are eager to take trips.

At Auburn, the first big day for visitors is March 19. But you can expect recruits to start visiting the Tigers well before that date, especially on weekends.

Much of the action at Auburn, however, will coincide with the team's spring practice dates and upcoming A-Day spring game. That's because the Tigers want their targets to do more than just meet with coaches and staff; they want them to get a true feel for how things operate on the field.

Here is Auburn's practice schedule:

Monday, March 14

Wednesday, March 16

Friday, March 18

Saturday, March 19

Monday, March 21

Wednesday, March 23

Friday, March 25

Monday, March 28

Wednesday, March 30

Friday, April 1

Saturday, April 2

Monday, April 4

Wednesday, April 6

Friday, April 8

Saturday, April 9 (A-Day).

Many times, we don't learn of a prospect visit until that player already is on campus. Sometimes, it's not until after they depart for home. But we'll do our best to keep you informed.

For the record, we expect the vast majority of Auburn's biggest targets to visit in either March or April since many of them live in the South. Just because someone visits, that doesn't mean Auburn leads for a player, or is trending for them. That's why we don't get too excited about every visit.

Post visit, it's our job to figure out who Auburn has a legit shot with and who it doesn't, who will officially visit, who may rise up the board -- or fall down it. In other words, stay tuned.

Among the names we’ve heard who could be on campus prior to March 19: Four-star running back Jeremiah Cobb of Montgomery Catholic (Ala.), 4-star corner Kayin Lee of Ellenwood (Ga.) Cedar Grove and 3-star (and recently offered) safety Bryce Thornton of Milton (Ga.). There will be many others.

The evaluation period is April 15 through May 31. That's when coaches can go back on the road to recruit.

Per NCAA.org, here is more thorough definition of the aforementioned recruiting periods.
