Paladin 3,307
Auburn DT Marquis Burks exercises free of eligibility for 2022 season By NATHAN KING 23 minutes ago The good news keeps on coming for Auburn's defense. Sunday afternoon, defensive tackle Marquis Burks announced on social media he'll being using his extra year of eligibility and will be back at Auburn for his third season with the program. A former JUCO product from Chicago, Burks rotated along the interior defensive line this season, appearing in 12 of 13 games and accumulating two sacks, four quarterback pressures and a pair of forced fumbles. Burks is the second senior to announce he'll be using his free year of COVID-19 eligibility, joining tight end John Samuel Shenker. Auburn's defensive front over the past few days received the official decisions from edge rusher Derick Hall, defensive lineman Colby Wooden and linebacker Owen Pappoe that they will all be back in 2022, as well. Randman5000 4,277
Defensive line will be competitive next year. Lots of experience, depth and new blood next year. Looking for a very solid year on defense. Pretty exciting.
AuburnNTexas 7,334
The defense is set for next year. This just adds one more experienced piece to a very deep D-Line.
Didba 5,511
It all starts with the Dline. Having a deep and experienced dline will allow the young Linebackers and Secondary to get adjusted. Just as an oline keeps the QB clean, dtackles eating double teams keeps the linebackers clean to do their job. It's an old axiom that football is a game that is won and lost at the line of scrimmage, and that is almost always the way the game plays out. It's the reason Cincinnati got run off the field by Bama's execution of an extremely vanilla offensive game plan.
W.E.D 11,071
Lots of experience coming back on the DL. Hopefully a second year in the system elevates everyone But multiple people need to get better rushing the passer. Had some flashes at times from certain guys. But thej really disappeared for long stretches.

Height was good in bursts. Maybe he can add some weight. There were a few freshman whom I'll be interested to see where they shake out post spring. Brooks being one, Hunter too

Gowebb11 9,945
Great to see this. MB is one of those players who does a lot of the unheralded ‘dirty work’ that doesn’t show up in the stat sheet but really helps the team.
steeleagle 2,945
Isn't it amazing how many defensive players are coming back? I wonder if that is they think they have a chance to improve their draft stock playing under the coaches like Mason, Eason, etc? Other than Tank, Shenker, and Jones (OL), is that all that declared they are returning? As someone said, our DL trenches are set with a lot of depth, but man our OL, QB, and WR list needs a lot of work. Potential to be an absolute star and fan favorite.
maryland tiger 646
Something special is going on on the defensive side of the ball. I believe Harsin can and will get the offensive side going.
