Harsin saying 6-6 is not a good first year.

That certain previous coach didn't have the luxury of playing Akron, Alabama State & Georgia State.  Take away those games from this year's win total and we are 3-6.

Don’t you know four straight losses, including blowing leads of 25, 14 and 10 points respectively are all the fault of the previous coach? The fade call into the end zone against Penn State, the fourth and one long bomb thrown from our second string quarterback on the road is all Gus’s fault. Haven’t you figured it out yet?

You know, the previous coach that left us enough talent to beat top 10 Ole Miss, top 25 Arkansas and top three Alabama, but didn’t leave us enough talent to win more than six games, is all on the previous coaching staff. Figure it out man!

He should say that.

This team went backwards over the course of the season. Some of that is injury and depth related, but we got manhandled by an average A&M team, choked on a historical level against state, managed to lose to a much less talented and equally banged up South Carolina squad and even though we played above our heads, we still blew a double digit lead to bama.

There’s certainly positives, but this was not a good start for Harsin.

But, but, but, he says the right things and recruiting’s gonna pick up any day now. Look at all the commits we got since the Iron Bowl?

Yeah but he has set a low expectation so when he get a solid 8 wins we are going to think we are something. If he won 8 or 9 this year we would be expecting 10+ next year. Now 8 or 9 wins would be a good year.

Harsin needs to hire Scott Fountain back as a recruiting coordinator.  Fountain was a key recruiter and (special teams coach at Auburn in 2013) before being hired away by Georgia, and then by Arkansas.   Scot Fountain brought quality players to Auburn but I can't blame him for bolting for more money at Ga and then Ark. Google the guy. He would be a good under-the radar recruiting hire.

Isn't there a bridge you should be living under or, I guess, since we're in the Christmas season now...beating misbehaved children with birch rods

No arguments for me there. I know him personally, he’s a great guy!

Yet...we aren't 3-6 and have been afforded additional bowl practices. Funny how that works

That is true.  We get the same practices as we were afforded last year.

it just means we need to be patient and give him more time to build his program.

It's not like we have a choice. I don't believe he should be losing support but even if he is, what choice do any of us have? The only choices we have is to either support or not support. He's getting more time regardless to any of our feelings on the matter.

Absolutely this. Our special teams were special under him. Now not so much.

Malzahn was a little biatch and I’m glad his high school arse is gone. I’d rather have the Cookie Monster as coach  or Miss Piggy. The end.

Yes, this explains where a lot of Auburn fans are at present. Hate Gus so much, they don’t care how bad the Harsin hire was.

In the 2020 regular season, Auburn played 10 significant games and finished 6-4.

In the 2021 regular season, Auburn played 9 significant games and finished 3-6

This in spite of having lost the fewest key players to graduation or transfers in anyone's memory.

This 2021 team had the pieces in place to be 10-2 or better but it just didn't happen. In spite of a new coaching staff which supposedly had everybody pulling together, there was no improvement, the record is worse.

Is there a lot to like about Harsin? Yes. Does he need more time? Yes. Will he get more time? Yes. Is trying to blame this disappointing season on the previous staff nonsense? Yes again.

Like you have any idea how bad the hire was or wasn’t after one season. Ridiculousness. Take a break from the iPad Chief.

Gus would've led us to another 2012 season if he were here this year. Not in losing the team, but the record would've been very similar.

And Mikey doesn't seem to want to factor in the opponent in any of this. Gus was as close to being 4-6 with L's to Arkansas and Ole Miss as Harsin was to a W with Bama. That game was within our grasp this year as much as letting those last year get away from us. Superior talent will usually win but the reason that it seems like anyone can win on any given Saturday in the SEC is because outside of Georgia, Bama and at the other end of the spectrum, Vandy, the talent is comparable overall.

I know..ifs and buts, but the bottom line looks different because one year things went our way and the other things didn't so much. Those breaks tend to even out and this year we were on the negative side.

Yep, let's get the negatives out so we can have the positives when we have the horses to capitalize on them.  Harsin had one of those up games in Baton Rouge and for that I'm grateful. That win meant a lot.

As the saying goes, close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. In football what counts is the final score.

Gus was 6-4 in ten big games and we fired him to get better coaching. What we got was 3-6 in nine big games.

Is Harsin a mistake? Still too early to know. Give it three years.

Too early to know, yes, but not really a fair comparison.   Gus in his 8th year 6-4, Harsin in his first.  We all know every year is different with timing, schedule,  etc.  I do hope Harsin gets us a winning season with a bowl win.

U could also say it’s not a fair comparison because it wasn’t Auburns regular schedule. Again people don’t want to call a spade a spade. It’s safe to say Auburn would have been 8-4 or 9-3 had they played their traditional schedule. CBH was 6-6 in a traditional schedule not an all SEC schedule. Not saying he shouldn’t have time but the records are from two different situations

Gus was never gonna get us out of perennial 8-4 land, dude.

Some of our points: Then hire a guy that will get us out of 8-4, not someone who will continue to be there or worse.

Lil Nickie, the greatest coach in the history of college football…. maybe hire a guy that can beat him three times in seven years. On a sidenote, Kirby Smart sure can’t do it.
