5-6 minutes

Alabama State (1-0) at No. 25 Auburn (1-0)

11 a.m. CDT Saturday (SEC Network)

Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn

1 Previous meeting between Alabama State and Auburn – a 63-9 victory for the Tigers on Sept. 8, 2018.

1 Game was needed by coach Bryan Harsin to move Auburn into the AP Poll’s Top 25. After beating Akron 60-10 to open the season last week, the Tigers are at No. 25 in this week’s rankings. Harsin is Auburn’s ninth non-interim head coach to debut during the Poll Era. None began the season with a ranked team, but three others, like Harsin, got their teams into the poll in their first seasons. None did so as quickly as Harsin. The Tigers had played three games under Terry Bowden before reaching No. 25 in 1993, five games under Gene Chizik before reaching No. 17 in 2009 and six games under Gus Malzahn before reaching No. 24 in 2013.

1 More touchdown pass than incompletion for Auburn QB Bo Nix in the Tigers’ 60-10 victory over Akron last week. Nix completed 20-of-22 passes for 275 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions. Nix’s completion rate of 90.9 percent set a school single-game record and ranks fifth in SEC history for players with at least 20 passes. Jarrett Stidham held the Auburn record at 86.5 percent on a 32-of-37 performance in a 24-10 victory over Mercer on Sept. 16, 2017. The SEC record of 96.0 percent was established when Georgia’s Greyson Lambert went 24-of-25 in a 52-20 victory over South Carolina on Sept. 19, 2015.

1 Overtime victory for Alabama State in 2021. The Hornets started the season with a 14-13 overtime win against Miles last week.

2 Auburn RBs ran for more than 100 yards in the Tigers’ 60-10 season-opening victory over Akron last week. With 119 yards and two TDs on 13 carries, Tank Bigsby recorded his fifth 100-yard performance in 11 games with the Tigers. In Bigsby’s career, Auburn has a 4-1 record when he runs for 100 yards and a 3-3 record when he does not. Jarquez Hunter ran for 110 yards and one TD on nine carries against Akron to become the first Auburn freshman with 100 rushing yards in a season-opening game since Onterio McCalebb against Louisiana Tech in 2009.

2 Previous games for Alabama State against SEC opponents. The Hornets lost to Kentucky 48-14 on Nov. 2, 2013, and Auburn 63-9 on Sept. 8, 2018.

3 Alabama State players are on the Black College Football Hall of Fame’s watch list for the Black College Football Player of the Year Award – RB Ezra Gray, S Irshaad Davis and DT Christian Clark.
