I wish we could play a west coast team at Vegas

I'll be interested to see if this becomes a legit kick off game like Atlanta, Dallas, and somewhat Miami.  Venue is amazing for it.

I'd love to play more Pac12 teams.  Hate that 90% of our bowl match ups are B10 teams.  We don't really have an open date for a while.  2029 is our only opening at this time

That UCF cat is a freaking idiot and has proven it for years.

Also this is a great thread to expose the Gus fans

What's to expose? I, like many others, supported Coach Malzahn as long as he was the AU head coach. He's now coaching at a school in Florida and other than wishing him well the only time he crosses my mind is when the haters who can't let it go bring him up.

The continual whining about a former coach is not a good look for AU fans. Gus doesn't bad-mouth Auburn, when AU fans bad-mouth Gus it makes him look like the bigger man, which he apparently is.

The fact that you think he is a bigger man speaks volumes . He has no reason to bad mouth Auburn . The university only gave him his first shot to be a HC at a premier school and a very rich human being. He should be thankful as hell for Auburn.

I would love to play tOSU or even someone like Texas at Jerry World or Atlanta. I wish we could play a west coast team at Vegas

No neutral site games (Vegas would be tight I will admit). Home and home with Texas, tOSU, Michigan, Oklahoma, Florida State, Michigan, TCU, Washington, Stanford, Virginia Tech, Nebraska, etc would all be awesome

Not disagreeing with your take in this as a whole but the stomping and whining is based on fans feeling Auburn didn't get their money's worth while Gus was on the sideline. It's not really about fulfilling the contract on Auburn's side as much as feeling our Happy Meal was missing the french fries. Everyone just wanted what they thought was paid for. You are right, Gus won't badmouth Auburn but he has zero reason to.

I fully “get” bad mouthing him for his OL recruiting, or his coaching decisions while here. I think it is silly to bad mouth him for choosing to stay at AU rather than going to Arkansas which is what drive the high contract.

Why not? I think neutral sites will be the new waves with all of these new stadiums around. Atlanta, Dallas for sure. Las Vegas would be great IMO.

What does TCU bring to the table?  it's almost as pointless as our Baylor series.  They aren't really good outside a small burst.  We've already done Washington, so pass.

Everything else looks good to me.  Nebraska is terrible, but would be fun from a historical standpoint.  PSU is going to be a lot of fun.  I'd love to get another legacy B12 team like Michigan.

I'm also all for any game in Atlanta so I can go easily.

Just depends on your perspective. If the neutral site game comes at the expense of one home game on the season, then that's major revenue lost for college town businesses.

As a fan attending or watching the games, I think it's great.

a fun trip for the players. (Lots going on around Orlando.)

Pretty sure Harsin is changing that mindset. You play to win. Then you get ready for the next game. No more vacation trips I hope.

i remember back in the day we would not play someone tho i forget who and we were chicken. it pissed me off. thus i have always liked the we will play anyone anywhere. and yes i know times change but i loved that anyone anytime. but for the record a lot of my replies have been  humorous in this thread. i guess i need more coffee.

FSU when Tuberville was hired.  That was supposed to be the father/son game.  We would have gotten slaughtered and Tuberville knew that, but I also thought we should have played that game.

Because that is different from any other coach that plays to win?  I hear this kind of stuff every time there is a coaching change.  In time, we will hear it again.

Well, I reckon I don't read Harsin's comments that way. He knows what it's like to be a player, and the day after a game? Who knows, maybe it would be an off week. That said, I seriously doubt this happens at all, so I don't see much sense in continuing to talk about it. I've said what I have to say. Y'all have fun! :)

Good point, but also I'd be surprised if players were ever doing any kind of vacation activities except before bowl games. Not sure they see anything except the airport, the hotel and the stadium.

A game at MB Stadium in Atlanta isn't half the experience as being on campus.  I know it cost an ungodly amount of money, but that doesn't make it a better place to see a game.

I love going to games there. I love the experience of a 50/50 crowd, I love the good beer selection, the great and reasonably priced food options, more comfortable seating, no bad seats, being able to watch the game from the 200 level concourse, amenities galore... it's awesome and way more than half the experience. Probably closer to at least as good.

It's okay to just say it's different.

That play to win? No. Some coaches do treat bowl games as a reward and maybe don't put in what it takes to win.

As has been said, it's a no-win solution for Auburn. It's be a bad decision to play UCF. Gus would treat it just like he did the Arky game.

I agree but we wouldn't get beat like Arky did almost every year. We would whoop their ass. I don't think it's a good idea though.

For someone who lives in Atlanta, a trip to MBS is a fraction of the price of going to Auburn.  Even people traveling in you're probably going to stay at a better hotel/airbnb for less money than going to Auburn.

I stopped going to Auburn b/c I hate trying to get home afterwards.  driving 2 hours at midnight after an emotionally draining day is awful.  I hate staying in Auburn b/c hotels are ungodly expensive for game weekends.  A weekend to Auburn for me is probably easily $1,000.  I can get some nice tickets in Atlanta for that.

Annnndd, I'm confident AD Greene could do a LOT better with scheduling OOC opponents.  He's a Notre Dame grad, isn't he?   Hmmm ... .... home & home?  Heck, I wouldn't mind a 2 fer 1 with ND.

I agree.

I would rather give the state schools the OOC slots we have available like we have been doing.

I also would not mind if down the road a bit, so that Harsin can get his feet wet here, we then played UCF here or in a neutral site game.

But not any time soon, and never a 2 for 1 with them. We don't need any more exposure in FL. We play down there when we play FL or most likely more often than not in a bowl game in FL. We get plenty of exposure in FL....

I definitely disagree and I’ve been to both. To each their own .

If it wasn't an advantage for him while he was here, it wouldn't be an advantage for him there. Wish I was kidding even a little bit. (But also he won't know much about our roster at all starting in 2022.)

not sure he ever knew what talent he had on his roster, to be honest.

I'll take a game in a real stadium with food that is better than sub-par and drinks available
