tigerbrotha12 2,362
Note about Auburn's next opponent, Xavier, who took 2 of 3 from TAMU: Xavier is 3-4, with their only other win coming against Wofford in a four game set where they dropped the other 3. Xavier certainly isn't going to be a pushover, but this week will be an opportunity for AU to figure out some things, and right the ship after a fairly disappointing weekend. J State tomorrow, 4 games vs Xavier this weekend. Auburn with a real chance to improve to 11-2 if they can take care of business in every game. Sweeps against anyone are difficult, but this is very do-able for AU.

tigerbrotha12 2,362
Certainly an odd and surprising loss to Baylor who is now 2-4 after dropping the series to UTRGV, then losing 12-4 to TAMU, and 9-3 to Oklahoma. Very odd weekend of baseball for AU. Hopefully can be explained with "that's just baseball."

There have been a number of oddities in the noncon season. Indiana St split a 4 game series at utk & was 2 runs away from sweeping them. Mizzou lost 3 of 4 at Grand Canyon & split at home with Omaha. Bama lost to UT-Martin. aTm lost 2 to Xavier as you had mentioned & 1 to Abilene Christian. Ole Miss lost 2 at home to UCF.

Probably wouldn't be a bad thing with how taxed our pitching staff is right now. Between Greenhill and Owen being injured and using a bunch of arms over the weekend, having this midweek to reorganize the pitching staff wouldn't hurt my feelings at all. If we do play, I'd expect Sokol to start and we have a couple guys available who didn't throw this weekend.

Very odd weekend of baseball for AU. Hopefully can be explained with "that's just baseball." I think we got caught with a hangover from losing to OU in the fashion we did. Then, Baylor got off to a hot start with two big hits off presumably our ace, Ward gets hurt, and things spiraled from there. Looked like we finally took a breath and relaxed later in that game and came out much better the next day against aTm. I think it's worth noting that only 5 of the 13 pitchers we threw on the weekend had ever pitched in a collegiate game away from Auburn. A lot of young faces got to experience life on the road for the first time, and several of them did it in a tight game Friday.

This. The experience is bigger than you could ever imagine, and it's precisely why Butch schedules these kinds of opportunities. My first experience on the road was in Birmingham (UAB and UA in the old Liions Eye Classsic at Rickwood Field). First night in the hotel, my roommate pulls out a hash pipe. I was absolutley certain I was going to spend the weekend in the Jefferson County detention center. That after eating at Lloyd's on Hwy 280, which Coach Nix insisted on for Friday meals. It's a miracle anybody could even swing the right end of the bat.
