Mandatory Credit: Todd Van Emst/AU Athletics Todd Van Emst/AU Athletics Auburn freshman receiver Ze’Vian Capers underwent surgery Tuesday morning after sustaining a left foot injury during last week’s Citrus Bowl. Capers announced on Twitter that the surgery was a “success” and that “it’s time to attack rehab and get back on the field.” A timeline for Capers’ return is unclear at this time. The 6-foot-4 freshman out of Alpharetta, Ga., sustained an injury to left foot during Auburn’s 35-19 loss to Northwestern in last Friday’s Citrus Bowl. Capers was helped off the field but was unable to put weight on his left leg, and a cart took him from the sideline to the locker room for further evaluation. The former four-star receiver appeared in 10 games for Auburn this season, finishing with seven receptions for 77 yards and a touchdown. Depending on how long his recovery time from the surgery is, Capers should be in line for a bigger role within the offense next season following the departures of Auburn’s top-three receivers -- Seth Williams, Anthony Schwartz and Eli Stove -- for the NFL Draft.
