You posted"the more tests given means more infected folks being taken off the streets" didn't you? My question to you is, if people who might be infected or would likely die if they get infected are already off the streets then how does testing them help?

Have you been to the grocery store? Lowe’s?. Home Depot? Chic fil a , Burger King drive thru? That’s the places I have been in these past few weeks. Including gas stations( bait shops) and two trips to the golf course. And three different Dr offices. Every place I go has a clerk who takes money and makes change or scans your card and hands you a receipt. And every customer at any of these places touched the credit card pad. Any one of these workers are spreading this if they are infected. If they are tested positive they go home and draw unemployment until they are not contagious.which takes TWO MORE tests. That’s the point. EVERYONE CANNOT STAY HOME. Essential workers, who are young healthy people are unknowingly infecting people. You can get people back to work if you can find out who is infected. If mass testing doesn’t happen, football season won’t either, in my estimation.

Maybe Grumps don’t understand how the people selling you food, meds and weed can also be a symptomatic transmitters? Those are the people he’s suggesting get infected and spread herd immunity. They are the people I am suggesting being tested.  I don’t think he understands this.

Thanks for clarifying. That makes much more sense. I had never heard that serological testing was just another name for antibody testing.

All fifty has to do the keep from getting infected is to stay away from them. In two weeks they will have immunity and then they will be harmless.

You never said how often they should test all of the potential "asymptomatic transmitters."

How often is the wrong question. What order is the correct question. But virtually everyone would get tested in round one.  It depends. You prioritize by their job, or how many people they are generally exposed to. After you test everyone and have cut down on new cases you might not need to test everyone again .

when nurses go to the whitehouse to protest opening the country back up after they have been on the front lines you can bet it gets my attention. and i see their point. many health workers have gotten sick or died or watched their coworkers go through the same only to turn around and open the economy back up too soon. i know i would be upset. grumps might get his wish anyway. i have a blind friend i drive around a lot and he needed to go to roses for some bandages for a dog bite his wife suffered and people and children were out in droves and especially roses. i am betting most were spending that stemi check. stupid people might have the right to do things that might make them sick or die but they do not have the right to do it to others. i am praying for ga and i believe tennessee as they are opening the state back up. want to go see a movie saturday? go to georgia.

TN has a set date for April 30th to open back up. People will decipher this as meaning the pandemic is over and people will come out in droves. I’ll be going to work and going home and staying there as I have been this whole time aside from grocery store runs.

Apparently the TN governor is opening up the state and allowing the appropriate counties/cities/municipalities determine how they want to operate. So I guess we’ll see.

Ivey: Alabama Needs More Testing Before Reopening

Governor Kay Ivey held a Press Conference to give an update on the Coronavirus Tuesday April 21, 2020 in Montgomery, Ala.

Gov. Kay Ivey said she wants to see an increase in COVID-19 testing before she reopens the state’s economy.

At a press conference today, Ivey said less than 1% of Alabama has been tested for the virus, but she said that’s not enough.

“All my decisions I’m going to make are based on data, not a desired date,” Ivey said

Good for Kay. Having a hard time grasping what any politician means by "reopening the economy".  We could allow business as usual tomorrow and a huge percentage, perhaps majority, of the population would not alter habits learned from the past month. That population includes business owners that still have the means yet feel insecure about reopening. 

Afraid we are in for the long long haul. Hopefully we can get this reigned in enough to keep essentials afloat.

If those that are so itching to get back to work, I wouldn’t mind taking a couple weeks off in your stay.
