WEATHER

Friday is going to be cold and wet, but, thankfully, Saturday is not Friday. In fact, in terms of mid-November football weather, gameday might be close to ideal. The sunny high is 61 degrees. Nice way to start a game. But still bundle up. The low will still likely dip into the 30s. Blankets are allowed.

HISTORY

Call it “the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry” if you want. It sounds cool, definitely. But just know that if you’re lookin’ to save a syllable, you can. Because it’s the Entire South’s Oldest Rivalry, regardless of whatever they printed in the gameday program for this year’s renewal of the South’s second oldest rivalry.

You can read all about it here.

Now, here's a short list of some of the more memorable and meaningful games in this most ancient of southern series...

1899: The referee’s ridiculous ruling cost Auburn an 11-6 win--but only for 366 days. After Auburn appealed the decision, the S.I.A.A. overturned the decision and declared Auburn the victor. Both schools adjusted their record books accordingly. So when--and why?--did they start counting it as a tie?

1915: O.B. Keeler mostly wrote about golf... probably because there was no point in trying to write about football anymore after penning this...

1933: Auburn students are nice. They put the Memorial Stadium goal posts back up after celebrating the win over an undefeated, untied Georgia squad. They just didn’t put them back up in the same place.

1971: Georgia fans ticked Pat Sullivan off on Friday night. So he won the Heisman on Saturday afternoon.

1986: “Coach Dye laughed about it. He said they needed a bath anyway.”

1992: The ending to the centennial year edition of the game hearkened back to that 1899 nonsense. Step off, Ray Goff...

2013: You may have heard about it. It was, according to analytics, likely the most-viewed Auburn highlight in history...at least for two weeks.

COUNTERFEIT TICKETS

It's obviously always something to be mindful of. But when the powers that be issue specific warnings, chances are good there's a heightened risk.

Here's the latest ticket trickster intel from the Auburn Athletics Department:

The latest fraudulent tactic being seen by ticket offices is seat location “photo-shopping” on print-at-home paper tickets. If you are purchasing a paper ticket from an individual (either in person or online), there is a chance of a fraudulent seat location, even if the original ticket was purchased from an authorized ticket seller. An example of this type of fraud would include purchasing a ticket from a source other than StubHub, yet the ticket has “StubHub”, on it, but the location on the ticket has been altered. If this occurs, the ticket holder will be required to sit in the seat location of the original ticket. Prior to purchasing tickets, you should reach out to the Auburn ticket office to check seat locations, either by phone in advance of the game or at a ticket troubleshooting area on game day.

BAGS

No backpacks or duffel bags or big purses or anything. Jordan-Hare, like most SEC stadiums these days, only allows clear bags to make it through the gates. Nothing but see-through totes and gallon-sized freezer bags. You can take a clutch with you as long as it’s no larger than 4.5-inches-by-6.5-inches. You can find more information here.

FRIDAY

If you have kids, and even if you don’t, you’ll hate yourself for not experiencing Football, Fans and Feathers at the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine’s Southeastern Raptor Center at least once. It’s become a favorite Friday fan-tivity in recent years. And you don’t just get to peep the eagles—$5 gets you photo ops with eagles, hawks, owls, falcons and any other birds of prey Auburn’s wing-healing beast masters have on hand. And you get to see them fly around. It’s cool. It’s educational. The hour-long show starts at 4 p.m. at the center’s the 350-seat Edgar B. Carter Educational Amphitheater at 1350 Pratt-Carden Drive off Shug Jordan Parkway.

Let's be honest. The ol' Reverse Tiger Walk is always better before the big games. And save for one, it doesn't really get better than this. Sure, the team is just driving to Opelika for the night, but still, be there if you can—5:30 p.m. at the Athletic Complex.

It might not look like it did before the Georgia game the year the whole thing really got going, but still...

IN THE NAVY

We had white. We had orange. Now it’s blue. They’ve put out the call. “Wear Navy.”

HALFTIME WITH HARPER

Halftime will sound a little different Saturday...

From Auburn University:

Auburn alumna Harper Grae has made quite the name for herself since graduating in 2012 with a degree in musical theatre and religious studies. Grae has performed at the Country Music Awards Fest, been named by Rolling Stone as one of the next artists to watch, made a guest appearance on the Bobby Bones Show and has been added to CMT’s Artist Discovery program. Her favorite accomplishment, however, might be the work she’s doing with her alma mater.

Grae is teaming up with the Auburn University Marching Band to perform during halftime of the Georgia and Alabama football games this season. Grae and the Auburn band will present their show, “Woodstock,” recognizing the 50th anniversary of the historic music festival. The show will include selections from Janis Joplin, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Blood, Sweat and Tears and Jefferson Airplane.

HEISMAN HOUSE

The Heisman House Tour returns Saturday. Stopping by? Takeo Spikes and Darius Slayton. It'll be at the Coca-Cola Tiger Fan Fest spot on the Nichols Center lawn from 9-2:30 p.m.
