AUBURN, Alabama — Auburn will begin preseason camp Aug. 2.

Auburn's slate of practice days and times for the upcoming season were unveiled to former Auburn lettermen in an email correspondence Friday. The schedule has not yet been released to the media or the public, but Auburn Undercover obtained a copy of the tentative schedule.

The Tigers will practice 14 times in 17 days during preseason camp, including a stretch of five straight days to start camp. The team will practice and/or conduct scrimmages inside Jordan-Hare Stadium on four of the 14 practice days, with the first day inside the stadium set for Aug. 8.

It's believed all practices will be closed to the public, as they have been throughout the Gus Malzahn era. Malzahn enters his seventh season of preseason camp looking to name a starting quarterback in the month of August for the fourth time in during his Auburn head coaching career. Redshirt freshman Joey Gatewood and true freshman Bo Nix are believed to be neck-and-neck in the battle entering preseason practices.

Preseason camp ends Aug. 18 with a morning practice at the Auburn Athletics Complex. Fall semester classes at Auburn University begin Aug. 19.

Auburn opens the upcoming season Aug. 31 against Oregon inside AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT on ABC.

Do they report Monday or later this coming week?

Are there any big issues heading into camp this year besides Gus on the hot seat and who is gonna start at QB?

Who is going to be able to effectively rush the passer?  How will the safeties perform.  Can the youth movement at LB perform as needed.   Basically everything on defense outside of our down lineman is a question mark in my book.

1. Gus

2. QB

3. Inexperienced linebackers

4. OL depth

5 Pass Rush Specialist

6. Will receivers eschew Seth, Schwartz, and Hastings step up.

Being out of state I don't follow AU football super-close like some here, but it does appear at first glance that Gus thinks he is in a good place. Wondering if he has resigned himself that he will do all he can do to be a "good coach" and let the chips fall where they will at seasons end. (7-5 record = bye bye!)

@ChltteTiger All the freshmen who were not EEs reported in May except Kamaar Bell. He arrived in July as did transfers Jay Jay Wilson & Zach Farrar. All hands are on deck.

I believe Gus knows he's in a good place (Auburn) and from what we have read he is trying to make some changes personally and in his openness to his players. That tells me he wants to be more than a good coach. I don't believe he's a que sera sera type personality.

The list of "most important players" is a strong mistake. Worm Shivers at 32 and Anders Carlson at 33 is beyond ridiculous.

Jibunor at #42 has me confused. Isn't he gone?

The list was done in a count down form. 1 per day or couple of days. The article on him being at #42 was written at least over a month ago & before he left the team.

The article was written over 2 months ago, on May 24th.

I love these importance lists but this is a strange one. Kam Martin and Schwartz are more important than Driscoll?
Driscoll is easily top 4 considering what happens there if he goes down for any reason.

Yep I was thinking the same. They should have brown, then the starting 5 OL, then the QBs listed. We lose any OL and we are in trouble.

OP Thanks for posting the schedule. Can’t wait for the start of the season!

Everything about Auburn football is a question mark in your book as long as Gus is the coach.

There goes that lack of reading comprehension again.

I’m excited to hear about the first scrimmage.  It’ll be nice to have Worm and Schwartz back and hear how Joey and Bo have progressed through the summer.
