As I remember he knocked home several over 50 yards which included, I believe, a school record 57 yarder. I admit I may be wrong because I am going by my memory, which doesn't work like it used to. of course Rat had a huge leg for a straight on kicker

Mikey 16,781
Lee Gross (Gabe's dad). He was the every down center and also long snapper. He'd snap the ball and often be the first to hit the punt receiver 40 yards downfield. He was good. Now, as to the best, it has to be one of the great punters/kickers we've had over the decades. tigerbrotha12 2,362
Chris Davis actually was a really good returner in general. If you remember, he actually returned a punt for a touchdown and had another 44 yard return in the Tennessee game in '13 along with the Kick Six. Carlson has gotta be up there though. Dude just doesn't miss man

Daniel Carlson may be a current player, but he may very well be the best FG Kicker I've ever seen on any CFB team! Wes Byrum and Al Del Greco made some pretty clutch kicks for us in their days. IMHO, Alexander Wright was our best returner ever. Chris Davis had the most memorable return in AU history, possibly the most memorable play in CFB history. Steven Clark could pin a team deep in their own territory as well as anyone. But my pick is....... Terry Daniel!!! That guy could kick a ball into orbit! Only punter I know who was so good he was accused of cheating! Lol ($1 to Jackie Sherrill) I snapped to Terry Daniel. I also had to run down field to try to cover his punts. LOL. There were times I broke down in front of the returner and just waited. There were other times that the returner just started walking off the field bc they were not going to run backwards that far to catch the ball. He is the best punter in Auburn history. I think he holds the record for most sunflower seeds eaten at practice also. Great golfer. Not a lot of people know this but he went to Alabama first, Stallings was not impressed so he came to us. Thankful he did. I also snapped to other All SEC kicked. Scott Etheridge, one of the most accurate and clutch kickers in football history. Jim Von Wile, his senior year and my true freshman year. Thomas Bailey, was one of the best returners in AU history. Fearless on punts. I know he had his jaw broken in a game and played the next week with wires. I believe he led either the nation, SEC or both in return yards one of my four years on the plains. Regardless, we have had so many great contributors on the 3rd phase of the game throughout AU history. All qualified and outstanding in their own right. Jim Fyffe literally voted him 1st place in the Heisman for never having a bad snap that season to Etheridge or Daniel, who were both invaluable to 11-0. And in 13 years of calling football, if Jim Fyffe believed a Long Snapper was worthy of the Heisman, you know he was pretty damn good. Very nice of you to say. War Eagle! JuscAUse! 1,526
Mike Fuller was a great punt returner, and an All American safety. Sanderson was a terror on STs.
