This is an interesting analogy and read ...

 ... the league, like Trump's ascendance to the nation's most powerful office, is a reminder of Americans' true appetites. They are both, for all their faults, a force for clarity. We are not the entertainment we consume—and the presidency is now entertainment—but it does a great job of scrubbing off some of the veneer.
