It's the same continuation of stuff that also happened under Bush - a fundamental lack of understanding of how to deal with the Middle East and miscalculating how things will go if you choose one side or the other.  Stupidly thinking we know who the "good guys" are.  Bush and Cheney did it believing we'd be greeted at liberators and heroes.  Obama did it in Egypt and Libya.  Seems to be an overall American foreign policy failure than anything else.

Amen!

The story appears to have started with supporters of Clinton, an important distinction.

Easy enough to " officially " distance them from the Hillary campaign proper... because, you, the optics and such.

Nothing to me if it makes you feel better to blame Clinton. Does NOT change the fact that Trump jumped on it and ran, making a fool of himself.

Same sort of "official" distance Trump has from the white supremacist wackos campaigning for him?

Probably. But while the MSM gives the white wackos all manner of credence, not so w/ the Hillary started the Birther movement.  The Left are all about equality, except when it comes to coverage of their own.

A Hillary supporting volunteer in Texas circulating garbage doesn't indicate that Hillary was "all in" with the birther claims. Typical of Drumph spreading lies though.
