AFTiger 282
Instinctively we knew this was true, Turning food into fuel is just wrong. The $30 billion or so wasted each year on the federal government’s biofuels mandates and subsidies needs to end now. The program is a complete disaster, and now has been shown to harm the environment, something anti-warmist skeptics (aka, deniers) have warned about for many years. autigeremt 7,262
Always unintended consequences...just like the rise in food product cost due to increased ethanol use in fuels (which plays hell on a vehicles fuel system).
homersapien 12,353
Just keep in mind that this was pushed as much - if not more - by the "Corn industry" and associated interests than it was by environmentalists. I remember reading articles about the economics when it was first proposed. The concept from an environmental standpoint was always to take advantage of things like switchgrass for ethanol. It was recognized that corn required more inputs to make it logical. It was pushed through partly as an answer for shortages in petroleum supply. We work with all these other options daily at AU. The problem is that there's no lobby for switchgrass production.
