Granted I know they're basically just practicing the no huddle alone but the speed is Oregon speed. ...it will be interesting if that continues

Boy I hope we can move the ball on first down....that could be the fastest 3 and out in history.

Moving the chains was probably the least of their concerns in those drills.

The best part about doing that speed is that it's drilling the correct place to be at all times. Every time, every player was in the absolute correct position. That's going to pay dividends, on defense as much as offense. No more of the defense wandering around looking as though they've lost a contact or staggering around like they have been clubbed about the head.

Some news, notes, quotes ...

If you live in the Jordan-Hare Stadium neighborhood, you're probably hearing Gus Malzahn's booming voice all morning announcing new drills.

...

- At the tail end of the media’s viewing window, we saw the first 11-on-11 hurry-up drill. While it’s been well-documented these mean very little, the first units remained the same as previously reported … while keeping in mind Kiehl Frazier and Jonathan Wallace are swapping chances with the first unit.

- This 11-on-11 drill including some physical contact, mainly in the tackle box. Nothing outside, nobody lighting up any receivers or anything.

- Every coach was somewhere inside the sidelines coaching up the drill, obviously keeping a supersonic tempo. Primarily, it was Gus Malzahn right on top of the quarterback and overall offense, making calls and keeping the pace.

FWIW, coaches say it's random, but in open media windows so far Kiehl Frazier has consistently been ahead of Jonathan Wallace. Still early.

...

First offensive line was same it's been all week: RT Patrick Miller, RG Chad Slade, C Reese Dismukes, LG Jordan Diamond, LT Greg Robinson.

...

Also looks like coaches have settled on looking at Steven Clark to back up Ryan White as PK holder. That's not uncommon for a punter.

...

Those working at returner Saturday morning included Robenson Therezie, Chris Davis and Quan Bray.

...

Auburn has had Forrest Hill as first deep snapper, with Jake Lembke behind him.

...

QB Kiehl Frazier said he feels like he's been given a second chance with coaching change, and he's ready to make most of it.

...

Frazier said he's shed about 10 pounds since Gus Malzahn arrived in December, and he feels faster on the field.

...

Frazier admitted he struggled last year, was adamant confidence is unshaken. He said he sees Cam Newton 2-3 times/week, and it's uplifting.

...

Frazier said he never gave any thought about transferring, even with how last season went. When he committed, he said he committed 4 years.

...

OL Jordan Diamond said the transition to guard from tackle has been fine. After redshirting last fall, Diamond just wants to play.

...

QB Jonathan Wallace said he has to fit the system, not the other way around. That's been his mindset when returning to the spread.

...

And finally, this dandy from Gus Malzahn. Asked if anybody stood out on Day 1 with pads: "No, zero."

I was around here in 2011.....the D wasn't always confused. We will need some good QB play to make this quick tempo pay off. Just sayin.

My goodness how fast is to fast! I couldn't keep up watching it on video. The think that

impress me the most at this point is the players unity at that pace on both sides of the ball

on the 3rd day of practice.

Auburn's Gus Malzahn on first day in pads: "A very physical practice. It was good for us as coaches to see how they responded."

...

Auburn's Gus Malzahn on fast pace at practice: "A lot of them are in shock with everything that goes with that."

...

Auburn's Gus Malzahn after spring practice No. 3: "We've got a long way to go. That's what I told the players."

...

Auburn, Jonathan Wallace going to work in Jordan-Hare Stadium...
