So I'm looking back through news archives for hand-wringing over the NCAA's double standard, loophole-ridden, Pandora's box ruling that allowed Albert Means to play football for the University of Memphis. I seem to remember that case involved an athlete being auctioned without his knowledge, with actual transactions documented and a letter of intent signed at the University of Alabama, only to see the offending calf simply end up on another cattla ranch. Can't find anything from Gene Wojciechowski or Pete Thamel or Thayer Evans or anyone else talking about how much of a travesty that was, how young Mr. Means should have suffered the consequences of his high school coaches and those "rogue boosters." Also took a spin through archives at RollBamaRoll.com, AndTheValleyShook.com, and EDSBS.com. Could find nothing. Pray tell, why not?
