No, it's really not false. We are G5 team roster wise. Who do we have on our team that would start on Ole Miss, GA, Bama, LSU, Mizzou? Who? Maybe our kicker?

Because most people's takes,regardless of the subject, all go back to their like/dislike of the head coach. So there has to be 100% agreement . U either for Freeze or against him is how most discussions are framed on this board. There's no happy medium. Contrary to popular belief, I'm not for Freeze per say. I'm for whoever the AU coach is until he proves he isn't the man for the job. IMO, we are nowhere close to that point with Freeze.

Not on the field, but the 2021 recruiting class was a colossal failure. Only 1 player from that class still on the team.

All this talk about our talent level being so much better than NM st , consider this .. Over 75% of our starters on offense and defense are from G5 teams, JUCO, lower level P5 schools ( Vandy, Purdue etc).Our WR room is even worse. We got beat by G5 team. WE, CURRENTLY ARE A G5 TEAM, ROSTER WISE. We all know why that's the case. Again, if this happens in yr 2 or 3 sound the alarm bells. For now, it's painful part of the rebuild.

I would take their QB over ours, WR same thing. If this loss would have happened in yr 3, then yeah it would be alarming. In a rebuild, kinda halfway expect it. History proves that, believe it or not. Should AU beat NM St? In normal times, yes. We aren't in normal times at AU for various reasons that have been discussed ad nauseum

It does matter in regards to this isn't the 1st time G5 has beat a power 5 team. We have no business losing to G 5 team. But the current state of the program, when we aren't ready t o play, this is the result I was surprised we got beat yesterday, Based off of how we played the 3 previous games. On the other hand, I wasn't shocked because I realize the current state of the roster. What matters now, what does Freeze do. Hide in his basement like Harsin or recruit like a madman and improve the roster. That's the only option at this point if he wants to have long term success.
