I never expected a quick fix, but I do expect a gradual improvement and a staff that utilizes the tools at the HC's disposal with the transfer portal w/unrestricted inner conference transfers + the unregulated NIL environment. I never expected to stock the roster immediately and fill all needs, but I do expect to see a well prepared and knowledgeable squad on the field every week. I expect to see the coaching staff busting hell wide open on the recruiting trail in a relentless effort until they are able to gradually replenish a talent deficient roster. I expect to see a competitive team that knows their assignments and plays with discipline and never gives up on the field.

Absolutely like old times. On a serious note, I hope one of these guys steps up tomorrow vs solid competition and TAKES the starting job for good. This musical chairs at QB needs to end, only then will the offense evolve and get more creative down the stretch.

It's easier than it's ever been. +Unlimited, no-holds-barred transfer portal, no player sits a year because they transfer and EVEN inner conference transfers are allowed. + Unregulated, unmonitored NIL where players make bank. + An impotent NCAA that's become totally irrelevant, toothless. + 25 scholly/yr limit was waived this year. It's easier than it was just 10 yrs ago for a coaching staff to build for the short-term and long-term. Of course the coaching staff has to be willing to out work the best coaches & recruiters in the nation, who happen to reside in the SEC. A HC can't sit back and not get out of the office & visit the region's top high school programs who pump out loads talent every year.

USC's win over Auburn absolutely made their season, got them bowl eligible, they won their bowl game and turned in a winning season for 1st yr coach Shane Beamer. 😒

One bright spot in the last 20 months is we haven't heard "the future is bright", "we'll get this thing turned around", "we had a good practice week, we'll get things fixed"............. oh and "we had a solid year" after turning another 4 loss season.

Wasn't he the one that brought his cat to practice one day? Perhaps he was trying to acquire that gentler side and wasn't given enough time. 😊 I bet some folks at Nebraska are wishing they still had that ole hard ass Pelini and his average 9 win seasons right about now.

Jimbo's got something like a 10 yr $100mm guaranteed contract and all the $$ backing his NIL he could ever hope for. That administration, boosters and fan base have lavished him with $$ and anything he needs. He has an equal record to Kevin Sumlin and just lost to Appy State. 😆

All good points. The lack of focus and a discipline on-the-field is something I'm surprised to see when CBH has harped on accountability, responsibility and discipline for months now. I bet he yanks a knot in some asses when they review film today.

I'm still in option "C" mode. You give this group enough time to prove out and 2 yrs isn't enough time to tell one way or the other IMHO.

This expanded playoff (12 teams) means the playoff committee's "eye test" will be broadened a bit and that #12/#13 ranked team will be pissed when they don't make the cut. Oh well, folks hated the BCS model, then hated the 4 team CFP model .... now we'll see if this new model will appease everyone.

They have a great coaching staff who coach well and their players fight hard & never give up. The 180 degree attitude adjustment Pittman put in place compared to Chad Morris' was a noticeable difference on the field. Chad Morris is terrible and was miraculously able to run that program even further into the depths of hell than Burt Bielima took it.

Same for me! Hoping for the best and that the PTB won't have a knee-jerk reaction IF things go sideways this season. Let the man do his freaking job for a few (4) yrs and let's see what he can accomplish.
