  1. For whatever reason, Auburn repeatedly failed to take advantage of an everchanging SEC landscape. We've seen programs run through coaches and deal with their own turmoil for decades. The conference was ripe for Auburn to step up and be the leader and take control, cement their place as an elite program and write our own history. Instead, we constantly exhibit our own special dysfunction and have wallowed around in mediocrity for years, even sub-mediocrity the last 2-3 yrs while pissing away over $80million trying to "right the ship." It's just nauseating when you think on it too much.
  2. Who are the former posters that claimed to boycott the board if AU hired Freeze? I have no idea who those people are?
  3. What? Saban is still bringing in the top talent classes. He called out aTm and danged if he didn't proceed to chalk up the highest ever rated class the very next year. The notion that the REC advantage has diminished due to NIL is silly. Do you really think the REC/uat are going to only operate under NIL to pay players? lol The exact same under-the-table pay to play process is alive and well, and players & their families love it because there's no paper trail and its freaking tax free.
  4. Damn - I feel like Auburn self-imposed much harsher penalties for Chuck Persons actions than LSU imposed for Will Wade's.
  5. Agreed. For my family contingent of about 24 folks, we all choose to give to AU Academics. The only $$ AU Athletics gets from us are the cost of annual season ticket packages. A lot of families may feel differently with their money, we made a choice decades ago and have stuck with it. I personally can't see how a small group of very wealthy men will continue to pour millions and millions into an NIL collective year after year when sports teams aren't consistently in championship contention. And in the case of AU particularly, after the +$80MM that has been thrown away for the football coaching carousel with contract buyouts in the last 3 years. Even IF I were to ever have that kind of money, my conscience and common sense wouldn't let me piss millions into the wind like that. It's insane.
  6. Their compensation is increased revenue, which is what every program wants at the end of the day. 🤑
  7. To be frankly honest, I'd rather a player use weed to manage the pains associated with playing football/basketball/baseball, etc, rather than the harmful and damaging pain killers and anti-inflammatory drugs doctors prescribe like candy.
  8. NIL just throws up another hurdle in the road IMO. Especially when we're told over and over in The Nest that there AU has a long list of "budget issues" within our AD + OTV has a big gap in $$ needed vs $$ collected over the next couple of years. We hear non-stop that NIL collectives are not sustainable which is concerning for the future.
  9. What a shady individual Les Miles turned out to be. I always viewed him as a crazy uncle type, turns out he is/was a perv too. And for Joe Alleva & King Alexander to have known about his pervy actions and wouldn't do anything about because Les was winning football games, shows the how shady the LSU bunch were.
  10. Truth be told, AU has fallen behind a few other SEC programs as well, not just the Big 2 in this conference. There's been a slow and steady decline for years and it will take time to build it back up, let alone get it up to par at uat/uga levels. It won't be an easy fix while several other programs are working like crazy to acquire top talent as well + UTx/Ok joining the ranks.
  11. THIS IS WHAT WE WERE ALL SAYING AROUND THIS TIME LAST YEAR. lol
  12. That roster talent is totally unproven in a O&B jersey facing SEC competition with a new coaching staff and all new schemes. No one knows how to project this season. I'm thinking winning a bowl game to end with a 8-5/9-4 season would be a huge improvement. This is a complete rebuild that'll take time and patience.
  13. I wonder if the SEC will just keep the normal schedules for 2024 and plug in UT/OK to replace the rotating opponent slot for that year? Then they can re-evaluate once UT/OK join and take another vote for the 9-game format. Seems that would've been the simplest way to deal with the '24 season.
  14. I don't hate UT/OK, I hate expansion in general and never wanted the SEC to grow 12 teams. I fail to see what value Mizzou has brought to this conference, or aTm for that matter? But I understand times are changing, and the SEC had to take the upper hand to secure the highest-level teams they could get through expansion. On we grow busting at the seams.
  15. That's Sankey sticking it to Saban for whining publicly about uat's proposed 3 permanents in the 9-game scenario and then campaigning to sway the SEC schedule vote last week. Why Auburn chose to side with Saban on an 8-game schedule I'll never understand? Act like a crybaby to get your way and see what it gets you later. lol
  16. It appears from the outside looking in that the law enforcement and justice system in Lee County is bought and paid for by the wealthy. There's just no other way to explain the numerous second chances and lenient discipline/punishment this degenerate kid has received. He's currently in Lee County Jail for crying out loud with 6 counts of child pornography and somehow miraculously skirted going to an actual prison after everything he's done. He should be in Holman/Donaldson or any other Level III prison, at minimum a Level II prison in Bullock County serving hard time, not in Lee Cty Jail where it's convenient for his family to visit. Until this guy gets a real taste of prison life, no rehabilitation will get through that thick skull.
  17. His family has long known their kid is a degenerate that rebels against any authority. He failed drug tests when he was on house arrest after killing the Bramblett's and his parents got those cleaned up with his probation officer. He racked up additional speeding & reckless driving tickets after he killed the Bramblett's and while he was on probation. Then he was found with child pornography and w/6 counts and finally the Judge refused bond and put his ass in jail in January, how convenient it was after the holidays. Now he's been caught with synthetic urine in a drug test, while he's in Lee County jail? WTH?
  18. What tier are we? If they weigh too heavily on recent performance in their equation, I may not want to know what tier Auburn would land in.
  19. Well, we know AU has a better chance of doing something special with this staff than they had with the last. Hope is all we have to go on right now. Improvements were made and with Bro. Freeze at the helm, incremental improvements will continue to be made. This rebuild will take time and patience.
  20. This kid will be in a 6-9 month "2nd chance" program requiring numerous random drug & alcohol tests, alcohol & drug education classes, driving school and will serve a ton of community service hours. He'll be required to pay fees for all of those programs + fines & court costs. IF he can stay clean during that time, he'll have served his time. Maybe the kid will learn a lesson and change his lifestyle; time will tell.
  21. Did Freeze or Cohen go to DC with Sankey?
  22. ALSO - Who knows if Auburn had representatives in DC yesterday to meet with legislators on NIL? I saw where LSU & UAT had their AD & HC's in attendance with Sankey. I didn't notice Freeze or Cohen.
