  1. Exactly. You can be a hard nosed coach but you really need the accolades to back it up especially in today's world of players coaches like kiffin, jimbo fisher, dabo and successful coaches in the past like Pete carrol combined with the instant portal and nil it is extra important to have championship level resume if you're going to go the route of tough grind it out, don't be late to anything disciplined coaching-- we are basically doing "personality readings" about coaches and the different approaches have about equal success. Side note -- would Kirby Smart be considered a more player friendly players coach or a hard nosed bull of a coach?
  2. I don't doubt that tank is more talented and athletic but hunter brings a certain level of pain that lacks with tank -- I honestly can't remember how hunter did in sec play so I'll take your for it but an average of 7 yards a carry is pretty serious.
  3. really? Hunter seems very capable and exciting to me.. more capable than tank sometimes tbh
  4. I'm in the club of keep auburn relevant and capable of flashing once every five years but I definitely understand the argument of success in proportion to salaries. I'd just like for my children to be able to roll toomers corner again after some, like, semisignificant wins. that'd be great.
  5. Heupel is really interesting, I think is going to be a boss for sure but I disagree about Kelly, I think he duds out pretty quickly. Pittman is the perfect coach for Arkansas and can keep them relevant and tough in my view but isn't necessarily scaring anyone.
  6. Kentucky the year before stoops was 50th then year one 33rd year two 22nd arkanas year prior to Pitt boss 45th then year one 24th olemiss year prior was 33rd then 17th then 16th auburn year prior to Harsin was 8th then year one 18th then currently 21st showing a potential regression pending coaching them up or however that plays out according to 247sports. so I'm not here saying get rid of Harsin, I'm just saying you could feel an uptick in recruiting momentum at those other programs under their respective regimes where as we felt a regression followed by a tumultuous coup D etat... I anxiously await to see how we pan out this year before beheading or crowning our current king
  7. the difference is you could tangibly see the swing in recruiting that was taking place at Ole miss, Arkansas and Kentucky -- leach sort of sucks and I'm not sure why anyone would advocate having him at auburn which would demolish our running back u nomenclature but yet and still he did find a way to beat us last year.
  8. He should put him there if he is in fact balling out in practice and showing the skillset of a winner and is deemed capable. It is absolutely not unheard of for sec programs to start true freshman at qb by any means. Of course I like a qb with experience but if that qb isn't able to grow and subvert his norms and reflex tendencies then the flip side is programs also have a full year to analyze the qbs weaknesses
  9. I'm not sure if Stat tiger is still around but it would be genuinely interesting to go back and statistically analyze every single whirly bird play and see what it netted yard wise and do a break down of such numbers wise
  10. none of the above, all four will be injured by start of the year and Tank Bigsby will be the starter at qb / rb from the wildcat
  11. I was pretty hype for the game thinking "alright this is sec vs west coast and we played good against them the year before (or after) in Southern cal but regardless this is about pride!" and then we just got suffocated and demolished by what was clearly a more complete and better team.
  12. It would have been nice to get a shot after they beat the absolute **** out of us at Jordan hare in one of our more embarrassing losses that I remember.
  13. I don't think we would have beat USC that year but we sure as hell would have put up a better fight than Oklahoma did
  14. yet ironically enough Bo Nix is 30-40 yards away from being the 2nd all time passing yards qb at auburn. He's like 30 some odd yards behind Jason Campbell with Jarrett Stidham 4th behind Nix who missed games and his senior season. I'm honestly surprised to see that passing Stat to be honest.
  15. Harsin drove a car at Talladega so that should translate to two extra unexpected Wins. I'll go with 6-7.. Win four straight to start out the year, lose the next four and then drop a bowl game vs ucf to further plunge the message board in to eternal chaos
  16. A number of big programs were recruiting DD -- georgia, notre dame, tex a/m, Lsu -- to be fair DD would have been more of a fit in a Malzahn offense and he was probably eyeing him as a n. Marshall type qb than Harsins vision of offense -- I agree about Geriner, I think he is looking really promising.
  17. uh well for one, a ton of qb's have to endure a new offensive coordinator year after year -- which is the case with auburn this year so they're all starting from the same place.
  18. Trying to lay low during the off-season but you keep triggering me since I've got unwavering Malzahness in my blood still so I'm at least showing up with some emoticons but not going full Mikey. Good to be back nonetheless!
  19. Holy Mother of God every thread is subverted in to Gus Malzahn talk
  20. it's ironic to me that the previous debate was "should we pay all college athletes x amount of dollars" to "let's just give a handful of stars bookoo amounts of money".
