  1. Auburn receives record number of applicants for fall 2022, marks its most academically accomplished, diverse applicant pool Published: December 13, 2021 http://ocm.auburn.edu/newsroom/news_articles/2021/12/131308-record-number-of-applicants.php The demand for an Auburn degree has never been greater, with the university recently topping the 40,000 mark in freshmen applications for fall 2022—an all-time high. The record number of applications for next fall is a 68.5% increase from those received for fall 2021 and a 155% increase from fall 2020. [...] Among the more than 40,000 applications received for fall 2022, there was a 76% increase in students applying from Alabama and a 100% jump in applicants from students with a diverse background. The applicant pool included students from every county of Alabama and every state within the United States. [...] The acceptance rate for Auburn’s first two early action periods was 24% for a total of 9,600 acceptances. Those students had an average ACT score of 28.6 and an average GPA of 4.21, with less than 7% admitted under the university’s test-optional pathway.
  2. If he signs on Wednesday I like our chances otherwise he will get to know the new LSU coaches and probably sign with them.
  3. Looks like he is Michigan-bound: 3 new CBs Clemons to UM today
  4. Not completely random. Clemons is from MI originally and still has family in the region + his best friend is a Wolverine. I agree, Clemons is probably not coming to AU (most likely Oregon-bound)
  5. Finally some good news! 2023 recruiting Liam Heary (#4 FL, #35 in the nation) is committed to Auburn, he is the highest ranked recruit so far. https://swimswam.com/william-heary-announces-commitment-to-auburns-class-of-2023/ Another 2023 commit is Andrew Billitto (#6 FL, #66 in the nation) Also, 2023 commits: - Josh Noll (#2 IL, #125 nation) - Avery Henke (#1 LA, 105 nation)
  6. Texas just signed Ewers and they are paying OLs $50k NIL per year...
  7. Harsin is basically Gus 2.0 (minus recruiting ties in the south)
  8. No, it will take years to rebuild everything…
  9. Harsin also recruiting RBs transfers because Tank will most likely transfer as well (Hokanson just reported it)
  10. Tank could be next + we will know more on Wednesday (recruiting)...
  11. Auburn will have a new QB1 next year when the season starts. Bo Nix, who's been Auburn's starter since arriving on campus in 2019, has entered the transfer portal, he announced on Instagram on Sunday. https://auburn.rivals.com/news/nix-enters-the-portal
  12. No final decision has been made according to JH. War Eagle, Bo!
  13. On3 is now reporting that no final decision has been made.
  14. K-9, what a cool moniker! - - - - - Elite 2023 PG Kanaan Carlyle Adds Tennessee to Final List Carlyle is also considering Stanford, Auburn, Baylor, Florida and Kansas. https://www.si.com/college/2021/11/24/kanaan-carlyle-adds-tennessee-to-final-list Earlier this month when Milton (Alpharetta, Ga.) point guard Kanaan Carlyle trimmed his list to five – Stanford, Auburn, Baylor, Florida and Kansas – he didn’t anticipate it triggering increased interest from a school that didn’t make the cut. Yet, since then, Tennessee has been relentless in its pursuit of the 6’2” floor general; so much so that Rick Barnes and the Vols have now made Carlyle’s list a top six. “Yeah, you could say that,” Carlyle said of expanding his list. “I’m gonna get down there for a visit in December. They offered a while back, but then they weren’t coming as hard. They called me and explained everything, and it changed my mind a little bit. I’ve always liked how they develop players.” Carlyle has already taken visits to Baylor, Auburn and Stanford and plans to visit Florida early next year. “I love the official visits, but they definitely make the process harder,” Carlyle said. “You leave one place and you’re like ‘I want to go there’ then you go to the next one and you want to go there! It’s fun, but it’s stressful.” Especially when Stanford is literally rolling out the red carpet upon Carlyle’s arrival. “Right when we got off the plane, they had a big red carpet for us to walk on,” Carlyle said. “It was pretty cool.” The star treatment is understandable for one of the most impressive guards in the 2023 class this summer. His combination of athleticism, quickness, shiftiness and IQ make him a headache of a defensive assignment and worthy of his on-court moniker of “K-9.” “It’s because of the way I play,” Carlyle said. “Aggressive! Just like a dog.” That said, it’s his mentality and approach on the defensive end that sets him apart from other guards in the 2023 class. Every game, no matter who he’s playing, Carlyle’s primary goal is to hold his man under five points. “If I don’t do that, I’m not happy,” Carlyle said. “Defense is way more fun than offense to me. Everyone can score, but not everyone is bringing that same energy and effort on the other end of the court. I love to play defense.” What he’s not as fond of is the stress that accompanies the recruiting process, and to alleviate that part could “potentially” have a decision before the end of the year. “We’ll see, I’m looking at maybe before the end of the year or early next year,” Carlyle said. “Either way, it’ll be when I know for sure.”
  15. I wouldn’t be surprised if Disney/Disney+ made a movie based on her life, a lot of stuff happened in the past few years. Suni also has an impressive IMDb filmography: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm12359437/
  16. Lanning to Oregon https://www.ajc.com/sports/georgia-bulldogs/breaking-dan-lanning-to-leave-georgia-to-become-oregon-head-coach/TPDWMYPORVB47ODTGWPXWWFEQU/?utm_campaign=snd-autopilot
  17. However, you need to add the PR those athletes bring to your school + additional applications (Flutie Factor), etc. This is on top of all the TV $ and merchandising $, etc. I read somewhere that a good bowl win equals $20-25M in marketing spend or even more, depending on the bowl game (CFP game and Final 4 appearance probably a lot more). Bama Football has an impact of $200M (every season) on the local economy, Auburn FB should have a similar impact. Suni's gold medal probably generated the PR equivalent of several bowl wins... and maybe we should recoin the term "Flutie Factor" to "Suni Factor" soon... Tim Cook and other alumns seem to love to attend the Iron Bowl and that's a good opportunity to ask them for donations. Ivy League schools don't need athletics but schools like Auburn, LSU, Florida, even Michigan and Texas rely on athletics for PR...
  18. I have been wondering about Gainesville. What's the appeal? - and why is Florida able to sign so many great (out-of-state) and even international athletes? I do understand when FL and GA athletes are interested in Florida but why do athletes from California and all over the world sign with the Gators? Their facilities are ok but not the greatest in the world. I know they do have some pretty good coaches, this is the only explanation and Florida is pretty decently ranked academically.... or maybe it is Gainesville? lol Florida Football, Baseball, and Basketball have a lot of history Swimming: The 2023 #1 national recruit and Olympic silver medalist just committed to Florida (Bella Sims, Nevada) + a very talented swimmer from New Zealand and a bunch of highly ranked national swimmers are currently committed. Katie Ledecky now lives in Gainesville and joined the Gator staff a few months ago. Gymnastics: The Gators have an All-star team this year (several World Champions & Olympians, tons of 5-star recruits. Olympians fighting for line-up spots). We always talk about facilities, recruiting budgets, location, etc but having an excellent coaching staff is probably still the top difference maker.
  19. LSU: + Boutte portal-bound soon according to LSU fans
