UGA has serious issues, several top senior gymnasts about to transfer to other schools. They are not happy with the coaching situation. The current HC Courtney Kupets basically destroyed their elite recruiting pipelines and is also destroying the legendary UGA brand. The situation is somewhat comparable to UGA Basketball. Reddit post: I know recruiting fell apart (rumors that CKC pissed off Georgia Elite, and doesn't get [m]any recruits from there anymore.) but it is obviously more than that. The athletes don't look prepared. CKC looks bored and over it. Half of the time, she's nowhere near the competing athletes. However they still managed to flip two 5-stars (Ariel Posen from UCLA and JaFree Scott who never signed with Florida). On the other hand, UGA lost the overall #1 2023 prospect Elizabeth Gantner to Utah earlier this year. There is an interesting thread on reddit and also some comments on JaFreeâs situation: CKC had good enough athletes, but her coaching was horrible. UGA got Jafree Scott but I saw somewhere else that she has had a lot of injuries and competed only a few times since 2019. I am not convinced that adding 9 plus new athletes is the answer. I guess since she broke half the team w/ injuries or their spirits ( several retired seniors not even thanking her). I surely hope placing higher than 30th and athletes at least leaving program feeling good about their experience.

UPDATE JaFree Scott signs with UGA
-
No update. I think itâs between UGA and Auburn based on several unofficial online rumors + she started following official UGA and Auburn IG accounts a few weeks ago (incl AU Football, Aubie the Tiger, our coaches, most AU gymnasts and even some of their parents. We probably donât have many scholarships available now⊠itâs still a relatively young team + three incoming freshmen - maybe we are trying to work sth outâŠ

Not sure about rivals and 247 but I found this On3 article: 5-star guard Chance Westry commits to Auburn https://www.on3.com/teams/auburn-tigers/news/5-star-guard-chance-westry-commits-to-auburn/ -

Yeah, doesnât make sense unless Barnes blocked the deal but no updates on volnation. Guru should know that we monitor volnation 24/7 đ -
2022 4* Guard/Wing Chance Westry Commits to Auburn

IMO Chance should be a 5-star⊠no idea why the recruiting services decided to re-rate him. -
Great news!

I guess we wonât really know for a whileâŠbecause Suni really wants to return to Auburn but they have to figure out how to make this work⊠This article also has an update on Olivia Greaves.

âWeâre meeting on it this week,â Graba told reporters. âBut yeah, she plans on coming back. Sheâs planning on training for 2024. At this point, Auburn has been so good for her. Auburn has supported her in her quest for the Olympics. As long we can continue to provide value, she will compete for Auburn and continue to train for 2024.â

2022 Men's Basketball Recruiting Thread
AUreo replied to tigerbrotha12's topic in AU Basketball Forum
We are not recruiting Bates. Bates announced his Top6 yesterday - Arkansas, Michigan, Seton Hall, DePaul, Louisville, Eastern Michigan. Elijah Fisher will most likely commit to Texas Tech soon(ish)⊠(G league is still a factor though and could slow things down and give us a chance to get back in his recruitment) I think ellitor is right and we wonât use the last scholly (JMO) unless we somehow land JP, of course. Interestingly, Arkansas now has 14 scholarship players and they just keep recruiting portal players⊠-

Lol... I mean the next one-and-done NBA prospect. This is important for landing the top 2023 kids. Cooper/Thor -> Jabari -> Phillips(?) -> ?
-
Man, I am really excited about this team. Adding Broome, Yohan, Westry - thatâs top level recruiting. However, we still need a âsuperstarâ to attract media hype. This past season we had Jabari and this upcoming season JPhillips could be our âmedia darlingâ⊠the sports media loves to cover one-and-dones. Arkansas and Alabama added N.Smith/Black and Miller/Bradley, respectively. We need to counter with J.PhillipsâŠ

I like this team better than this yearâs team. It seems like we wonât have to rely too much on two players (Jabari&Kessler) and occasionally KD or Wendell. Now, we have more weapons. Hopefully, both Chance and Phillips (fingers crossed) will develop into shooters. However, we still donât have elite guards even though our guards should be more experienced next season. This could be a Sweet16 team (maybe Elite8?) but I am not sure we have the guards to proceed further⊠we should be another SEC Championship contender with this team though. 2023 recruiting: I really hope we can land Isaiah Collier later this year. His recruiting is getting into the next phase now (USC, UCLA, Auburn, Alabama, Michigan, Cincinnati) and he is planning to commit sometime late summer/early fall.

2022 5* Wing/Big Julian Phillips Commits to Vols

I think they are getting better. It's not on3 level but definitely improving... they unofficially cb'd Yohan to LSU - two weeks before he even announced his decision... -
2022 5* Wing/Big Julian Phillips Commits to Vols

I think this is one different because it's not NCAA (it's a G League meeting, half-day presentation). He told 247 that he has nothing scheduled for now but this could change... -

Yeah, I don't believe that he gave his verbal to UT last night. He was still on campus hanging with AU players. -

Do you mean volnation insiders? New situation. They seem more optimistic now: "Both his parents like Barnes. They told him theyâd like to be at UT if they could meet the NIL deal that USC met. I think weâll hear in the next ten days. Iâd say sooner, but the Ignite invite is a weird curveball. The only new information I have is that the coaches are MORE optimistic after his Auburn visit. Of course they could be wrong, but I think theyâre encouraged that he didnât melt and sign this morning." -
Some updates: CollegeGymNews ranks Auburn at #6 in its 2023 Way Too Early Power Rankings (see other post). Auburn could rank even higher should Derrian and Suni both return. Clemson will announce its HC coach pretty soon (this week), source: reddit Recruiting: 5-star & Team USA gymnast Jafree Scott (No.4 (2022) prospect in the nation) has decommitted from Florida (they already have some 5-stars committed and are interested in some top BIG10 transfers). Looks like she is considering Auburn, Mizzou, Kentucky, and possibly Clemson, source: LSU board Profile: https://usagym.org/pages/athletes/athleteListDetail.html?id=577251 National Team Camp: National team members will attend camp in Texas later this week. NCAA superstars Jade Carey (Oregon St), Leanne Wong (Florida), and Jordan Chiles (UCLA) will participate. No announcements from Suni and Olivia Greaves yet. USC Football Spring game: Looks like Suni attended USCâs spring game in L.A. this past weekend. Suni is a finalist for the Honda Sport Award
