Thamel links Harsin to Ariz St. That would be a great outcome for us.
There are like 12 other dudes on that list.

I’m not disagreeing with this but it’s probably the hardest thing to do. Recruiting good offensive lineman appears to be something that Auburn can’t do. There must be something that is preventing good lineman from signing. It can’t be because they can’t come in play. So what is the problem? Is it lack of putting guys in the NFL? Is it coaching? The next guy needs to figure this out quickly.
Yes, I know. I agree about it being difficult. I was simply trying to illustrate how far in the hole we are, but most of you guys know that already. Just adding my 2 cents.

the #1 most important thing right now is recruiting and specifically 1A OL and 1B DL. it really doesn't matter if the person can coach. if they can recruit great assistants and great players that is all that matters in the short term. we need about 15 4 star OL just to get some kind of foundation laid. i don't see fickell, rhule, or freeze doing that.
the only for sure people who can currently are saban and smart. even dabo ignored the importance of recruiting and stocking full classes each year and clem has been feeling that the last couple seasons.

i appreciate the thread name changes, who ever is responsible.

if auburn fires harsin for freeze or gundy the football program deserves to burn for a long long time.

The way other schools are using NIL is straight up paying players filtered through whatever “rules” are in place. I suspect after what a&m did this year it will get a crack down but anything short of what they did is way behind the curve.

its easier now for players to leave a school than any other time in recent memory, probably ever. if it wasn't so easy guarantee 75% or more of these players would have stayed put. that should tell you something too.
as usual its pretty clear no one really know anything.

No, I think there are legitimate questions being asked, but exactly which "character attacks" is he responding to? The tweets from a former player?
any character attacks.

What it should tell you is that Gus actually did give a s*** about certain players & Harsin doesn't.
except for the players gus ran off of course, right?

I read the article and a few questions come to mind. Outside of internet chatter, who has made an attack on his character? Has there been an official statement from AU that would be deemed a character attack? Has there been anything from what I would call the legitimate media? Any articles accusing him of something wrong? If so, I have not seen them. I have seen internet comments and tweets from players past and present but I don't consider that legitimate allegations. It is somewhat interesting that he would be responding to those things. There will always be internet chatter. So exactly who is he responding to about these "character attacks"?
I think it odd he mention that you have to let the head coach be the head coach. Most everything that has happened the past year has been from him; hiring assistants to firing assistants, recruiting, transfers in and transfers out all lay at his feet.
you think all this is just social media "chatter" and its business as usual at the football facility?

wooten says it. its a culture change. one i was pretty sure everyone thought we needed. this seemingly has gone from salacious affair with staffer to harsin is mean to players real quick.

Seriously where is the evidence? Being a d*** and not connecting well with players does not seem to be enough to be fired for cause. Not even close.
and it doesn't mean you aren't going to set the culture you want with the players you want when you get them in there. patience would have been valuable in all this.

what does that mean? "treated like dogs"?

I don't get all the blame being put on some "PTB", as though they are behind the curtain pulling strings. Those money people want AU to win too, just like we do. Harsin was given full control of the football program, no strings attached. He's dropped the ball in several areas and instead of putting the blame where it belongs, we need a PTB to blame it on? That's nonsense.
hes had 14 freakin months and an unprecedented time of legally paying players and wide open transfer rules. thats no time at all.
it doesn't really matter what his record would look like 3-4 years down the road, it wouldn't be nearly half as bad as the damage all this is doing to the football program. if i were trying to sabotage the football program, i would have a hard time coming up with a better way to do it than whats happening now. everyone knew harsin was going to have to rebuild. that doesn't happen with out roster shedding and TIME.

Guarantee we already have staff lined up. Or the PTB are far stupider that we imagine. This is RUNNING SOMEONE OUT OF TOWN. Didn’t we line up a moving service for little Bowden the SAME day we fired him? Lol.
what, in the history of Auburn, makes you think "they" have something lined up?

I see what you did there 😉
I was under the impression that harsin was known to be 1) a good talent evaluator and maybe more importantly 2) a good player developer. Something Auburn has had since Tubberville was HC.
I like harsin to have enough time to figure out if either of those are true. I realize I’m probably in the extreme minority at this point. It just seems bit crazy to be talking about firing now.

Good point.
Something with regards to the DL transfer is the scheme change. A 3-4 DL's skill set and attributes are quite different than those of a 4-3 DL. Transitioning schemes always takes a few classes to make it work.
What do think the chance are harsin get “a few classes”?

Idk, maybe giving him time to actually rebuild is too much to ask. He didn’t get us #1 recruiting class and we likely won’t win 10 games next year. Guess it time to cut him loose.

The lack of patience is a problem IMO. Was it not pretty obvious with the extreme lack of talent on the oline and depth on dline this was going to be quite a rebuild? Seemed that way to me.
it wasn’t going to be a come in and after one year everything would be fixed. I understand everyone wants a saban timeline turnaround but that’s not realistic.
id like to see a bit more patience but it doesn’t seem many have the stomach for that. Imo of course.
