Really? Do you know why Caddy’s gone?

From the sound of it, I feel like we'll get slammed in the media either way--either "evil Auburn railroads innocent coach out of job!" or "evil Auburn refuses to investigate [certain wrongdoings that were alluded to elsewhere]!"

Jay Tate is saying to expect more changes to the coaching staff, perhaps even as soon as later this evening.  He, like us, will not get into specifics at this juncture as it is, in his words, "unfair, unprofessional and, frankly, gauche."

Hopefully it's no one in Auburn's fault.

I get the Meyer analogy. But he isn’t Meyer, yet. He would still be coming into a program completely foreign to him where prominent boosters have been waiting 17 years to stick their noses back into their business. Again, in that regard, he is similar to Harsin.

Keep in mind I’m talking about when Florida hired him. DeBoer’s resume has to be at least as good as UM’s was in 2005.

He can coach but he’d be a fish out of water at bammer. No different than Harsin in that regard.

Bottom line…anyone other than Kirbs is an extreme downgrade post Saban. Not skeered of whoever they name. Our recruiting is up. There’s has no place to go but down.

Respectfully disagree. What DeBoer did is much more in line with what Meyer did than Harsin. You can make up for lack of regional experience as long as you have national clout. Which Harsin had neither of.

No reports of either Dabo or Kiffin being in Tuscaloosa...

When did Byrne's 72-hour window start?

I would be relieved if it were either of those. Please not DeBoer, please not DeBoer.

  6. I would be surprised but quite pleased if it's Dabo. He would still have success but he's pretty obviously past his peak. My expectation (realistic-ish hope?) for them the next decade is to be about Stallings era-level.

Gosh I can't stand Bammers. They're saying they have their pick of the litter between Dabo, Lanning, Mario Cristobal, Kiffin, Sarkisian, Napier, Muschamp, Bill O'Brien, Brian Daboll, Butch Jones, Jimbo, Kirby Smart (yes, they said Kirby), Mike Locksley, Demeco Ryans (current HC of the Texans), Mark Dantonio, Derek Dooley.

All of those coaches either played at Alabama (Dabo and Demeco Ryans) or coached under Nick Saban. I've heard several that truly think Kirby would leave his alma mater, Georgia, to come back and coach Bama. They're so freaking arrogant.

If they get someone from Saban's coaching tree, I would prefer they hire Jeremy Pruitt or Mel Tucker. 😂 (I know they won't and can't).

I have a weird feeling this hire is going to be a little out of left field like our Chizik or Harsin hire or Brian Kelly to LSU. Nobody saw those 3 hires coming. With everybody expecting a past Saban asst. coach or an alum to get the job, I think it could be totally opposite.

I could easily see DeMeco coming.

Totally hate to say it and hope I’m wrong, but Ryan Williams seems to love Auburn but have zero plans to play here. The offensive identity, lack of QB play and lack of Oline talent being the issues

I’m definitely in “believe when I see it” mode with RW but I would argue his skill set might be less reliant on having someone to catch from than Perry and Cam. He seems to be a Percy Harsin/Ben Obomanu type who can burn you at will with sweeps.

If this is actually true, in my mind this is a good thing.  I think Lanning would do really well at Alabama.  He also has a strong footprint in the SEC, having been at Georgia.  He would have hit the ground running, probably held on to most of their current roster including this signing class.  Think we dodged a bullet.

Now let’s hope DeBoer stays out too.

Cult idol worship is a dangerous thing.

when will the state holiday be and how many days?

Halloween being a holiday would be a MASSIVE feather in the state of Alabama's cap!

    Saban is gone....

Ryan Williams! Ryan Williams! Ryan Williams!

It's great to be an Auburn Tiger!

Not if they get Lanning. Or Kirby and then Georgia hires Lanning.

    Sorry guys, just being cautious.

If I had to bet right now I'd say Dabo. He has enough goober in him to try to follow a legend.

I'd happily take it but his stock has fallen a lot over the last couple years IMO.
