The guy who wasn’t here last year
The debate was how much talent they had to start with. But yeah, the roster would've been gutted anyway if Harsin had stayed.

Oh, you mean the guy who actually is a dark horse Heisman contender? Graded to be a top 10 NFL draft pick, potentially?

Ultimately, both our home losses were games where we could have won. Whether you view that as reason for pessimism (coaching) or optimism (lack of talent--and therefore similar to CPD's first year) is up to you. 🤷♂️

We need to pump the brakes on this. It's possible Freeze works out well. But it's not close to true that he's some homerun hire and if he fails, no one else can succeed.
What has Freeze ever accomplished?
He lost his last 4 games at Liberty. Typically, at programs like Auburn, you only hire coaches from a smaller program if they are killing it.
He got a lot of play from beating a bad Arkansas team. He had one great season at Liberty at 10-1. But he was 8-5 in the season before that and 8-5 and 8-4 in the next 2 seasons.
Ole Miss? That was 7 years ago and a lot has changed since then, especially how defenses defend his offense (anyone remember Gus?). Either way, he was 39-25 at Ole Miss (not counting the the sanctions that took about 30 of those wins away). Over 5 seasons, that averages out to 7.8 and 5.
I just don't believe we're a very attractive coaching job, for reasons entirely out of our control.
That being said: he'll get four years, so if it hypothetically doesn't work out by then, we would be off the hook from Gus and Haskins by then, and not that much left in his contract. Combine with Saban being four years closer to retirement (75), so maybe we would be in better position by then.

My only issue is that this has been a worse showing early on than Harsin or Gus. I know everybody is saying that HF is elsewhere building for next year but we are not building blocks for next year on the field. He is gonna have to sell recruits on a vision bc the on the field product is not it. I praised him in the off-season and still think he can be successful with how he builds programs but I am just numb by the ineptitude of what we are putting on the field
Harsin and Gus had vastly more talent.

I just don't think anyone (who would take this job) can do it if Freeze can't.

Once again, bears repeating.

Huh?
What's even the point of trying to rebuild if you lose all your recruits when things go rough in the early going? Look at ALL the coaches who have had crap first years.

So do we start losing commits after this or nah?
You literally just proved my previous post's point.

So we just need to keep hiring and firing coaches until we miraculously land Nick Marshall 2.0 right out of hte gate. Awesome.

Gainesville is the worst place on the planet. I don’t understand how people get duped into living there. It’s like if you said, “I want to live in Florida, but I only want the worst parts of Florida”. I’d point you to the swampiest armpit of hell, Gainesville.
More hurricane resistant, for one.

Whatever we need to do to get Coleman to flip/commit needs to happen
I think at that point it becomes a massive opportunity cost. We might have to give up going after a transfer QB and some key other spots for what it would cost to beat A&M's offer.

Don't care how WSU performed. I still think Ward is better than anyone on our roster by far.
Missing my point. Need MSU very very very bad.

I'd like to think there will be an urgency in the TP this December with QB in a way there may not have been last year.

I wanted the Ward kid who transferred to WSU at Auburn bad.
Unfortunately, they got destroyed by Arizona, who lost to...Mississippi State.

Excellent half by Milton but my god stupid stupid stupid to kick it out of bounds.

Even Gary disagrees.

Lots of veteran QBs last year that left this year.
Also I hate to say it but the rule change about substitution was objectively the correct call. How is it fair for the defense to not be able to substitute if the offense does too?

If Auburn doesn’t beat Miss State and Arkansas by at least a touchdown it’s really going to hurt my feelings. The wheels are about to come off Arkansas.
Gus doing Gus stuff.
Be interesting to see if Mr. Rogers is back next week. No idea which we should want lol.

He left a very bad taste in a lot of mouths at AU when he left.
So essentially every former Auburn player burnt bridges? Craig, Kodi, T-Will...
But yeah, generally changing both coordinators is a cause for nerves, 2002 is the only time I can think of where that worked.

So he'll still be recruiting, yes?

'25 class off to a damn good start!

Again, two ways to look at that. Anyone with reasonable expectations for this year expected similar to 1981. And your description makes it sound pretty similar. 🤷♂️
